So, still alive after the flight from Pokhara to Jomsom. ;) (Well, *knock knock*, anyway ;). Gotta say that I've never been scared to flying but now I genuilly was a bit... I was really tensed all the way (all about 25mins). Luckily I was still able to look for the breathtaking peak views of the Annapurnas! Rises respect in you.
Jomsom was a little town/village with only a few tourists, since it's a low season. On a high season I believe it's buzzing with trekkers. Took a local bus to Marpha (it's only about 5 km away, or so. 200 NRP for two.), the apple capital of the mountains. The bus ride too was a bit tensing, with the "road" full of bumps&holes. Here we found a decent "hotel" (read: lodging) called Sunrise. At least at these mountain standards. At least it looks fairly new built and the bed linen & matresses looked quite new. A bit like you'd be at the cabin back home in Finland. The price 350NRP/night also is like next to nothing, so can't complain, I guess. Really, think about it: circa 3,5€/night, for two (2) persons!! Walked our home street from one end to the other, in this tiny village. Lots of Guest houses and souvenir shops, though. But they were almost all closed, but it was also very early, before 10 AM. Maybe some of them open later, even though it's low season. Ate at the Restaurant Marpha, yak and chicken curry. Curry was good, but the meat wasn't - yak was sticky/hard and the chicken had bones in it. So it may be that we're turning to Veggies for the rest of the time in Nepal.. Good apple juice and apple crumble here was! After eating; some hours' SLEEP - the waking at about 4.10AM begins to _feel..and taking its toll.. > ZZZZZzzzz.. ;P
--- Slept for 4hrs, woke up when it was already starting to get dusk. Had a short walk at the main str. but then ended up having the dinner in our own hotel. Vegetable curry rice, with Coke to drink.
