The drive from KTM to Bandipur took about 5 hrs. But we got lucky, since it was a sunny day and no rain, and therefore all the roads were in a good shape. Our driver is a nice guy, doesn't talk too much ;) but tells when there's smth to see. Suits for us Finns perfectly. ;) Stopped coupla times for a gorge emerging cool spring water from the mountains. Looked very amazing!
Though the drive was sometime quite "thrilling" with those _many serpentine turns, and "dead angles", where you can't see a thing what's coming from behind the corner. People just drive horning all the time.. A bit scary sometimes, too. Like the very narrow and very serpentine road ascending from the Prithvi Highway to Bandipur..
And no rails of course on the road, and the rear was veery steep down.. And at one point I really was quite happy that it hadn't raines here in two days and that today ia a very hot&sunny day as well. So muddy that one part would've been that & that mud would lead easily off the rear of the cliff.. So I also hope very much, that it won't rain (at least not much) at night and tomorrow as well, when we're continuing our drive to Pokhara. So that the road from here is still safe to drive, like today!
But we're lucky that it's so sunny day, so we're seeing the mountain tops from the terrace of our lodging, The Old Bandipur Inn. We couldn't see this if it'd be raining and the clouds would be hanging low. So like I said, I really hope that it does not rain tonorrow either, so that we're gonna get to Pokhara as smoothly as we got here..! :) Thank you, all deities ;)
Magnificient views here. And good food at our lodge. We took traditional Nepalese currys.
Went for a walk to the "town", which was really small, practically just one street. But then we decided to walk the about 30 mins steep ascend to the Thanimai temple to hill top, via a little "path" and narrow stone steps. Muscles had some hard excercing, but the views from the top really were amazing, because the weather was clear!
Coming down took much less time and then we just went to sit on the terrace and took a beer, watching the lightnings across the dark sky in the valley. Thunder was still very far away, only a distant rumble could be heard somewhere.
