This morning we visited Kaykoy which is the"ghost town",now preserved as a museum village, consists of hundreds of rundown but still mostly intact Greek-style houses and churches which cover a small mountainside. It was mostly still standing,a few earth quakes and time had deteriorated it but as a whole it was impressive to see what would have been a whole community on the hillside at the sane time it was a little eerie because it was so deserted.
We jumped back on the bus and headed to Dalyan for our mud bath. He had to cross a river that separated the Mediterranean and the Adriatic seas on a boat. As soon as we got off the boat we were hit with a rotten egg/sulfuric smell that was coming from the thermal pool. We stripped off and jumped in the mud pool and covered/slathered ourselves in the mineral rich mud and fit out to dry it all out in the sun. It was a funny sight to see all these mud monsters running around. Once it was dry we washed off under running water showers so we were clean enough to get in the thermal pool. Thus pool was naturally 36 degrees I didn't stay in for that long the smell was a bit over whelming.
After we finished at the mud baths we got back on the boat stopped for a bit of lunch then travelled down the river to get to iztuzu beach. On the way we saw these amazing temple like structures carved into the rocky mountain side and we were informed that these had been used as kings tombs. Before tomb robbers got in it had contained kings remains and their treasures. Before we got to the beach we stopped at a boat that was selling fresh crab and were dragging crab meat around in the water on a fishing line to attract logger head turtles to the surface. I was really excited to see a couple as I'd been hoping to spot one as they lay their eggs on the beach we were going to. They were so big and cool! we got the the beach and got straight in the water. The beach is 6km long and 300m wide and there is a strip in the middle of the beach you can't lie on because there are turtle eggs buried in the sand that are under conservation.
Our group started making human towers to entertain ourselves we masters the three person shoulder stack and almost nailed the 4 person but not quite,I'm sure it will get perfected on the greece sail lol.
After a couple of hours we jumped back on the boat, picked up some freshly cooked crab off the other boat for the people that ordered it and sailed back to the bus to head to Marmaris where we were going to have a big night.
Jimbo and ash brought the bottle of vodka we smuggled in and had a sneaky room party for some Pre drinks. Had a quick dinner got ready and headed out to the wharf where we got on a big 2 level boat. The part of our group that left us a few days earlier joined us again for the night on the boat. It was decked out with disco lights and all, needless to say I got loose although in blame turkeys national drink Raki. It's a clear drink made from aniseed which didn't make it the best tasting drink and is meant to be mixed with water which makes it a cloudy white colour ,it was potent.
After cruising around the harbour for a few hours we went back to land and Baris took us out into the Marmaris night life. We went into this club that had two raised podiums with poles on them. Had a bit of a go at what Nadine had been teaching me,was a bit of fun. I won a dance off with a Turkish boy and I say boy because he looked a few years younger then me.i don't know if he realised he was on a dance off with me but he was. I was up there for an hour or two trying to kick him off it wasn't until about 6 guys from my tour squished up there with me and he got down, but I'm going to put it down to my awesome dancing that he felt intimidated haha.
At about 3.30 am I was exhausted after dancing for hours and a couple from my tour were heading back so I went home with them, but not before we had maccas mm maccas chips on the drink, nothing better.
I crawled into bed and dreaded having to wake up in 4 hrs.
I also realized anyone who has my calendars with where I'll be this will conflict with what I'm writing because they changed the tour and haven't updated the itinerary on line or hadn't when I printed it so days will be mixed around.
Tomorrow we headed to Pamukkale, which I'd been looking forward to,it looked so pretty in all the pictures id seen.
Over and out xx
