As expected it was a massive struggle to get up. I think I was still drunk to be honest, but not being one to allow drunken ailments to inhibit my sight seeing I dragged myself out of bed and walked far to far up to this moorish relic.
Called the Alhambra,it was the original palace of Isabel and Fernandez and had been turned into a tourist attraction. In the end I was glad I went as it was amazing. It has been kept in amazing condition and basically stood as it once would have, ponds full, fountains running, gardens flowering and kept. It spanned across a large amount of land and had soapy different areas. The artistic detail inside rooms and on the ceiling was beautiful and so intricate. We had a tour guide who explained everything to us in detail so it was great to hear the history and facts about the place and the people that used to live there.
Eventually, and probably just in time the tour ended. It was amazing to see but I was feeling seedy and desperately needed this pamper afternoon is signed up for.
After lunch who ever had put their name down for the Hammam, left the hostel for an hour or two of relaxing.
The Hammam is a Turkish style bath which had a cold pool, warm pool and hot pool. As well as like back in turkey when I'd been to the Turkish bath they had the hot marble table you could lie on,steam room and the opportunity to get a massage. Carrying heavy back pack and dragging a suitcase that I'd failed so far to get under 22kgs,I felt I was entitled to a massage. I'm glad I did it was exactly what I needed to top off my Hammam experience. It was a very low lit place and I struggled not to talk as you had to virtually not speak while you were in there, being me i couldn't last zipping my lips so I whispered to my tour guide haha.
We had a group dinner tonight which was situated under and with the Alhambra over looking us. I'd like to say it was a nice meal unfortunately josh and I never got our meals,I was lucky id ordered an entreè or I probably would have been starving through the flenco show. If only it had happened in aus. Our table would have got their meals and drinks for free, alas the Spanish work on their own time and rules.
Next we walked to Sacromonte caves to see a traditional Flamenco show. It was inside this small tavern and sat what seemed to be in a cave like room with a small stage. We saw a series of about 3 different groups of people come up to the stage and do a show. It usually consisted of a guitar player a singer and a few flamenco dancers. It was quite amazing and I really loved this Spanish tradition. The dancers dance with such passion and "stomp",with such serious looks and frowns on their faces. The musicians are very talented and Izzy said the whole performance is usually off the tops of their heads.
After it was finished we caught a bus back to the hostel and I hopped into bed as I was still paying for the night before.
Over and out xx
