Had such a good day today! Guess what I did?! Oh yes, I went shopping! The mall here is so great that I spent loads of money. Now I just have to carry it with me! I bought the most AMAZINGEST top ever! I came out of the changing room to look in the big mirror and the shop assistant said "Wow, that top is hot". I showed it to Becky and she was like "I'd never wear something like that!". But anyway.
Yea so all we've really been doing since last time I wrote is sunbathing and shopping. Well, for Becky just sunbathing because she's being sensible. It even got to the point the other day when she said "I don't want to get any browner because it looks stupid" when she saw a picture of herself - I'll tell you which picture actually. So you guys at home better watch out! Make the most of that English sunshine!
Yea, I just have to keep emphasising how hot it is here. The pool outside Gilligans - our hostel - is probably the hottest part of Cairns. There is no wind at all and it's all white which magnifies the heat. So on Friday I decided to take a trip down to the lagoon (like a free outdoor swimming pool because you can't swim in the sea). It's really nice down there, they have free public BBQs so at lunch time you get this really nice waft of sausages and burgers. This was one of the cooler days so I was pretty comfortable sunbathing, although occationally?I did get a little hot. I looked over at the temperature gauge and it said 37C! Even Becky said it felt cooler by the pool that day, so I hate to think what temperature it has been the other days. I met this?couple earlier from Darwin, quite pale skinned and she said this is nothing compared to Darwin, and she's used to this heat! How can anyone get used to this!
It was really sad on Thursday because we had to say goodbye to Catherine (friend from NZ) We made her stay in our room cos we had a spare bed and she had like 4 noisy boys in hers. The cleaner tried to accuse us of letting someone stay who hasn't paid in the morning.
Went to see Perfect Stranger last night. Was ok, very twisted ending, Becky liked it though. I wanted to see Stomp the Yard.
Becky's stomach's gone really bad again. She cannot have ANY wheat, gluten, or some other stuff like before. So it's going to be really expensive for?her to eat. She can have chips though which is all anyone needs!
I'm sure you're all getting bored of me rambling on - but I'm not finished quite yet!
Did I tell you about the time in Airlie Beach? I don't think I did. Well, we had a bus at 7am so we got up early and as I was walking over to the sink to get a glass of water I heard something pop under my bare feet. And I could feel it underneath too. I took my foot away and saw blood smeared on the under side, and I realised it was a cockroach! It was so gross! I cleanly popped it. I think it was lying on its back so couldn't scuttle away. It made me feel sick! Almost as bad as the time I found a woodlouse with long legs in my cereal in Brisbane.
Anyway, I'm going to try to upload some photos now, if I can get on the other computors!
X Susie
