I had to write today, even though I only wrote not so long ago (and that was a mighty long one). Also Joe would not stop bugging me to! He lives for these blogs you see, as I'm sure all of you do!
Well today was amazing! Such a great day. We went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, since  you can't come all this way and not! We woke at 6am (stupid binmen!) and got up at 6.30am to leave at 7 (very early). The boat didn't leave till half 8 though. There was a real mix of people on our boat, not just backpackers (well, not many backpackers at all). which was nice. We sailed for a couple of hours until we got to the first reef, which was fine because we had a comedian onboard, he was really funny, alittle pervy though. Then we went out onto the first reef for the divers to dive and us to snorkel. it was really really amazing. I can't believe the colour of some of those fish! And the reef is beautiful! I kept scraping my knee on the coral though because it was so shallow, that hurt! And I brushed it on this furry thing which left some soft residue on it, which iwas scared was going to itch or turn red or something, so manicly rubbed it off! We were over this reef for a couple of hours so went snorking for about 3/4hour then got on board and had lunch 11.30ish. Although the water was like 25degrees I still got cold after a while.
The boat ride was a little rough, it was a really speedy boat so it was fun sitting on the top deck bouncing around on the waves. Lunch was nice, although it made one Japaese man really sea sick. It was sausages, steak and salads. They also had biscuits, tea, coffee, free wine and cheese and biscuits throughout the day.
The second reef we got to Becky decided not to swim so she stayed on the boat. This one was so much better though! The boat was in about 25m deep water so that bit was scary, but the coral was about 1m deep again. The fish were sooo amazing again! And after a while I suggested to Izzy to swim over to the deep bit to go shark spotting, literally 3seconds after we got off the reef i spotted a shark below me. A MASSIVE one too! About 2m long and very evil looking. So I screamed (through my snorkel) SHARK and started swimming back over to the reef, Izzy went and dived down to it! Crazy. it just left us alone though. People were scuba diving down there and they were fine. Then I turned around and was face to face with a turtle! IT was about 80cm long - pretty massive. SO I called to Izzy and swam along side it. Man they're fast! It lost me pretty quickly! It was so worth it! I really enjoyed today and it was like a once in a life time thing. I really wanted to sit on the top deck on the way back so I did, and the sun was still so hot at 4pm that I managed to burn my right arm (not my left!) quite badly! But it was worth it!
You should all be warned, Becky is seriously brown already! An ABORIGINE commented today on her colour! I know! I'm pretty brown(/red) too but not next to her! I'll try and do something about it before we return don't worry!
Last night we went to watch a film at the cinema with Catherine (our friend from NZ), Disturbia and has anyone (Katie) seen Even Stevens, cos it has the boy from that, and he played the serious character really well. It was a very scary film , couldn't watch parts!
Better go now, write soon
