Happy Birthday Jenny! Hope you got my text!
So as you can tell by the name of this blog we're still in Sydey. Had a few really good last days. I have some AMAZING photos to put on here but this computer I am using is so rubbish it's not letting me put them on here.
The day after I wrote me, Becky and Izzy went to Bondi Beach. It was such a hot day, I can't imagine what it gets like in the middle of summer! Unbearible I imagine. The bus ride took about half an hour because we stopped every 50m. It was very cheap to get there though from the centre of Sydney. It wasn't exactly how I imagined, but that's because I didn't really know what to expect. It was quite a long beach that got busy later on, but apparently it was quite empty that day. It's a touristy town with loads of little shops and lots of Roxy and Billabong etc shops there, although they're not much cheaper. We sunbathed all morning then got too hot so went to sit at a cafe place. Then in the afternoon we looked round the shops then did some more sunbathing. I was so careful with suncream because of the ozone layer here.
The next day we decided to take a trip to Manly. So at about 9.30 am, after our lovely free pancakes at the hostel, we went to Sydney Harbour and caught the ferry over there. It only took about half an hour and we had some of the best seats on the boat. Becky went to the toilet for 2mins and I had to fight off about 6people. It was so hot though sitting in the sun, even at that time in the morning.
Manly is such a nice place. It reminded me of Bondi but a little nicer. There was one main street of shops which had all the nice shops and so many amazing smoothie, yoghurt and burger places. At the end of it was a beach. It was majorly patrolled by lifeguards because the waves were huge. And they had so many signs up saying you couldn't swim. They also kept announcing that some bluethingys were being swept onto the shore and were stinging loads of people when they trod on them. Apparently there was no immediate cure, you just had to pull the sting out and bear the pain. Not great. Me and Izzy still went swimming though, but Becky stayed sunbathing. That day was also incredibly hot. There was a nice little market in Manly too where I got a really cute bird Necklace (you might see me wearing it on the Neighbours night). That night was our last night with Izzy for a while,we just watched Charlies Angels on TV and she needed to do some washing.
The next day (I think was Sunday), it was raining, it's ok though, we had 2 really hot days. We just wandered around the shops and then came back to the hostel to watch some TV and get ready for the Neighbours night. We got to the Coolabar at about 5pm and there weren't that many people queuing. We met this really nice person in the queue who worked for the BBC back in Britain and this was her 2nd Neighbours night. When we got inside we met up with Naomi, Nicola, Sukey and Rachel. WE had THE best seats in the whole pub and were right by where the actors sat. We got inside at about 5.30pm and the actors didnt show up until about 7.30pm, think the pub was trying to get everyone to buy loads of food and drinks first. But then we saw them - Boyd, Toadie and Elle. They all came running past me and sat on the stage thing. There was a q&a thing so some people could as them questions. After that they came round to see everyone, and have their pictures taken with us all. In the mean time there was a quiz, in the end we came 3rd. It wasn't all to do with Neighbours, but we were sitting next to the World's Number 1 Neighbours Fan. A pretty sad title but the actors seemed to know him. He kept jumping in all our pictures when we really didn't want him in them, so I might have to edit him out.
First person to come round was Toadie, he's not too short in real life only a little shorter than me. He did a really goofy face in my picture, lol. The next one was Boyd, he was sooo nice. He was so polite and obviously loved doing these nights. Again he was a little shorter than me but not as short as I expected. I have THE best picture of him on my phone, I asked if i could take it and he even posed for it! Lastly we saw Elle, it was so funny because everyone was obsessed with Boyd and Toadie so she was kind of wandering around, no-one really bothering with her. She was very nice though. And I asked if she would pose for a picture on my phone, and got all shy cos she had to stand by herself, lol. Ok now she really is as tiny as I thought. She was about 5ft tall and sooo thin. She had to have this massive bodyguard about 1m away all night, he was annoying, he didn't really want me to take more than 1 photo of her, but I did cos she was nice.
At the end of the quiz they did some silly game thingys where they got people to go on stage and do stupid stuff. Then the actors said their goodbyes and left. They had to go about 9.30ish because they had to fly back down to Melbourne. Apparently Toadie isn't doing these nights any more, despite doing them every week for years, and BOyd finishes filming in about 4weeks, but he'll still be on our screens in England for 6months.Apparently Toadie has to keep his moustache for the show, he's not allowed to shave it, lol. He was really funny in real life. He kept making jokes about how fat he was, although he isn't anymore, and how he looks like a giant baby when he does shave. It was such a good night, and I love all the pictures I took. They were all so sweet and down to earth.
Today we woke up, and just after breakfast I realised our trainers were missing. Turns out the cleaner mistook them for rubbish (just because they were in a plastic bag) and threw them out. We were so mad, mine were nice diesel ones that I bought for coming away. So we went to reception and the manager lady said she could only recompensate them for $100 (about 40pounds), so we went shoe shopping and found ourselves some more. Then is pm we walked over the harbour bridge and around the opera house, and sorted things out in STA Travel.
We're off to Surf Camp tommorow then up to Byron Bay the next day.
