Well this morning we woke up Ketchikan which is a sleepy little town with a dramatic name Ketchikan wich means Thundering Wings of an Eagle.for the rugged sole that climbs the 3000 foot deer mountain that overlooks the town the mystery is solved from that vantage the town once a Tingit summer fishing camp sprawls out in the perfect shape of an eagle in flight. Like most communities in southeastern Alaska Ketchikan is surrounded by a vast wilderness and impassable mountains without road or rail connections to the rest of North America everything must come by air and sea so although it is a small picturesque and rustic it can be quiet busy.seeing as this was our last port of call we all decided to go on a excursion we went on a float plane to watch bears going salmon fishing I was nervous getting on this plane it was a six seater I was lucky going and had the backseat all to myself and the take of and landing was just perfect I must be getting braver we met the guide and he took us to a river where we spent a very pleasant hour watching the salmon jumping but no bears when we were walking back up the track the guide stopped us and said a bear was near us the next thing Karen said in a quiet voice there he is and just in front of us on the track was a bear everyone was busy taking photos after a short while he wandered of. The guide took us to another river I had never seen so many salmon John even took photos for Michael a fishermans dream or worse nightmare we left there and made our way back to the plane then onto the boat. When we got back on the boat we got ready to go to dinner we decided to go to bistro on 5 a little crepe restaurant the food was fantastic and very filling. When we first came on board the ship we checked the shops out and Chris bought Karen a chocolate brown diamond ring and necklace for her birthday the ring needed to be altered so we went to check if he had done it he had so Karen was happy she could wear it while we were there he showed John a ladies black diamond faberge watch we left John in there and we went for a drink John joined us later minus the watch we watched a dance show that was really good then we all retired for the night.
