It's been a truly crazy past couple of days. The last entry ended with me heading out to make the west maui sunset which was amazing. I then met up with my couchsurfing host, zeona, at a local/touristy mexican restaurant bar for a few drinks. I ended up crashing on her couch in pukalani, which is upcountry with amazing views, along with 2 german travelers named thomas and dag (pronounced d-ahhhh-g). They were the single 2 funniest people I have ever met in my life. Imagine 2 german kids, high on life, who listen to oldies to wake them up in the morning, and who are traveling to vegas (which they pronounce 'way-gus). I guess you kind of had to be there, but they made me so glad I moved here. I mean, just look at this entry's picture. Thomas was already talking about coming back in the summer and staying with me for 3 months. So awesome. Danny you would've loved them. Today is the 14th (Friday) and sadly they had to leave for Waaaaaayyyyyyyygussssssss! I will hopefully receive a call from them from waygus and save their voice message so I can post it on this journal. So amazing.
The day after arrival I woke up to blasting oldies coming from the germans' room. We all headed down to the beach to go canoeing but some old b**** got hurt earlier in the morning and no more canoes were being rented for the rest of the day, so we just hung on the beach for a while and played in the water with the germans. Z wanted a nap and the germans wanted to surf so I went and apartment hunted and ate the most amazing lunch of my life which consisted of teri chicken, rice with this hot doggin' soy sauce, and salad with mango papaya dressing. My mouth is watering now so I think I'm going there for dinner tonight. Met up with Z and friends again later for a hike through a bamboo forest which ended at a sweet waterfall. I met a guy who was renting an apartment week by week which I am writing this journal in now. I can see the ocean which is pretty amazing. We then barbecued later that night and got drunk and swam.
The next day Z and I went and ate at Stella Blues which is a grateful dead restaurant which was pretty good, despite the fact I ordered grilled chicken and ended up with grilled cheese. Apparently I mumble a bit. We then recycled the 34938509 beer cans from the night before and hit the beach. I made fun of a guy on the beach who was whiter than me and his girlfriend overheard me and I got confronted. Ouch. Maui tacos was for dinner where I had the most amazing burrito with pineapple salsa. Needless to say I didn't even s*** myself, a first for me after eating mexican food. We then drove upcountry to Kula and barbecued with two cool dudes, one of whom looks like jay from jay and silent bob. We ping-ponged, beered, and grilled and headed back. Also, I got a ticket to the most talked about concert Maui's seen this year: Incubus and Silversun Pickups. Incubus can suck it, I'm there for the Pickups. Suck THAT Ellen Patton.
Tomorrow I hopefully will be locking in a permanent place in Kihei, a block from the beach, ordering my new love in the form of a scooter, and lava hiking to the snorkeling haven, la perouse bay. Hopefully then visitors will begin the flock.
