Hannah and Liv's Travel Update
After a lovely lakeside breakfast we set off to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan and Pink City. Being the biggest city in the north after Delhi, it was a big change coming from Pushkar into a bustling city with lots of beggars, dust and of course a MacDonalds! We firstly met our lovely tour guide Eugene Prem who was really passionate about everything in his country, and set off visit the Amber Fort, just out of town. It was a magnificent fort set in the mountains, but it was a shame we had to settle for jeeps rather than the elephant ride to top! The fort was really decorative with beautiful gardens, however we had to leave one section quite quickly after someone disturbed a hive of wild bees which began swarming! We briefly stopped on the way back to get pictures by a beautiful lake palace, just as the sun was setting, then stopped at a carpet factory, where we watched demonstrations of block printing and carpet weaving. The showroom of carpets upstairs was amazing, packed full of all different materials and colours of carpets and at really cheap prices- a little difficult to carry though we decided! Back at the hotel cafeteria we enjoyed a self-service meal followed by chocolate milkshakes.
