First, I need to recap my night before I forget it. We went out to dinner for one of the volunteers birthday. It was an American joint with a menu that made our mouths water. I got a western bacon burger and it was DEEEELISH. I think our table of 13 ordered everything off the menu. So good :) but, before we even got there, I had a brief feeling of horror! We took the local trolley to the town and as we are about to get off, I step out of the trolley and someone in the group says "wait!", so everyone stops and the doors closed with me on the outside. I almost peed my pants!!! The group was terrified, too, seeing me by myself on the outside with the doors closed. The moment only lasted 3 seconds, but it seemed like an eternity. After 3 seconds, the doors opened again and everyone rushed out and we all started laughing. So, it ended up being a good night and I was so ready to get in bed. Tonight is "lady's night" in town, but I'm opting out to save money and catch up on rest. My day today was the same as yesterday as far as work goes. I was assigned to a market about 40 min away and it was cleaner with less commotion going on in the area. I enjoyed it more because I was able to focus on the reason why we're there! Some of us have a trip planned this weekend to Mindo, which they call "the cloud forest". People that have been already say it's realllly enjoyable. I can't wait to get out of Quito for a little while and breathe some fresher air. I think we will be doing some hiking in Mindo and that's always fun. The altitude still makes me weak when I climb stairs, which is about 10 times a day since my room is on the 3rd floor, and both volunteer offices are on the 3rd floor of their respective buildings. It's a lot of huffing and puffing, but it don't mind since I feel so bogged down from the food that's available to me. I really just want a huge fruit bowl with Greek yogurt right now. Mmmmm. I bought some popcorn at the mall because it reminded me of mi padre lol. I didn't grab the M&Ms tho... Too expensive! Anyways, I just wanna lay in bed now. Working with small kids in the sun can be tiring.
