We left our beautiful lakeside stay and started to make our way west towards Monaco. This part of France is beautiful. Huge mountain ranges, endless vineyards and lovely rolling bush areas and pastures. We drove through countless numbers of beautiful old villages where the streets were not much wider than Betsy.
We finally came to rest in a little town called Sommieres. In the morning we walked through the market area where there would be 30 odd stalls selling all sorts of bric a brac. We then headed to Nimes and Avignon where we stayed for the night.
The next day it was off to Arles. It was in this town that Vincent Van Gogh spent much off his life. We came across another Kiwi couple from Palmerston North and enjoyed their company for awhile before heading off again where we stopped at a campground to catch up on some laundry and basic housework.
Next day it was off to Monaco and along with it the usual problems of parking. We did a drive by of Monaco and headed south along the coast with the intention of finding a place we could park and enjoy the beautiful Mediteranean sea. Well we drove and we drove something like 100 kms and all we found was wall to wall people and cars with not one place where poor Betsy could rest her weary feet. Very disappointing really.
Sue was determined not to miss Saint Tropez so we got up early to make sure we could find a park. Even arriving there early it was still a mission Eventually found one put our 5 euro (NZ10)in the meter for 2 hours of parking and off we went. We enjoyed walking around the old village (didn't see any celebs, probably to early for them) and after a n overpriced expresso we headed off where we found this delightful
place designed for purely for campervans. Fifty meters to the beach and a 32 degree day in the sea and the sun was enjoyed by all
