HI from Switzerland. What a beautiful country . Stunning mountains including the ones we climbed (car not feet) Mt Eiger, Matterhorn , Jungfrau, these three are considered some of the highest mountains in Europe.. The lakes are turquoise, the forests electric green, and the sky china blue.
Lucerne was stunning with its bridges covered with flower box's , 15th century buildings and the most amazing lake. Then there is Interlaken, the adventure capitol of Europe. It's a meka for thrill seekers. We saw about 30 hang gliders and couldn't believe how high they were flying. Hiking and bike trails abound and are packed.
We also loved Zermatt. It's a car less village high up in the mountains so we took the alpine train, the only way up, and strolled around for an hour or so. They have a cemetery especially for climbers who have lost their lives mountain climbing. Most of course were very young. Spent 3 days in the mountains and could have spent longer, however Switzerland is very expensive so we have moved on.
On Sat & Sun Europeans come out to play. They cycle, walk ,hang glide, motor bike, swim, mountain climb, anything outside and active seems to work. We love watching them, especially the motor bikers, with just a touch of envy. We can always hear them in the background.
