As we made our way down the coast of France we noticed a dramatic increase in the number of campervans on the move. We stopped overnight in a supermarket car park which allows overnight stays. In the morning I counted 58 vans parked there. The next night was the same. We stopped out this beautiful town called Blaye. It was once a very important shipping port and the old fortifications that remain showed how important. We parked in the designated campervan park where we stayed for the night. In the morning there was over 50 vans there. France is very liberal as to where you can park and free camp. We love it.
Made our way down towards Biarritz where we decided to set up for the night then go in early to beat the crowds. It was Saturday morning and we got into Biarritz by 9.30 and virtually had the town to ourselves. We even managed to find a carpark. We wandered around the waterfront for a couple of hours and by the time we got back to the van it was all go. So it was off to Spain. Next stop was San Sebastion on the Spanish coast.
