The weather was the worst we have had today. In the morning it poured raining so after breakfast we grabbed our umbrellas and headed for the Metro and the Champs Elysee.
It stopped raining but it was a very grey day. The Champs Elysees has security everywhere as they are finalising the set up for Bastille Day tomorrow. There are French Flags lining the street with seats set up along the route ready for the spectacular military march tomorrow and the airforce fly-over. There are many airforce and army officers walking in groups seemingly having a fun time together. All very good looking chaps (and girls) too!
After strolling into some of the shops, we'd had enough so Lachlan and I decided to walk to the Musee de L'Orangerie to see more of Claude Monet's artwork which we were told is at this museum.
We really enjoyed the museum and the Monet exhibit was 'exceptionnelle'. There were two large purpose-built oval rooms and Monet's water lillies lined the walls. Just beautiful.
Hope the weather clears up for Bastille Day tomorrow. The forecast is not good. Summer in Paris is not like Melbourne. Thank God I brought my hat!
