It was a fabulous journey on the Eurostar to Paris. The train was so fast and so smooth. It took just two hours from the centre of London to the centre of Paris. I set the security alarm off crossing the border so I got frisked! Don't know why but Lachlan laughed at me standing with my arms up whilst a nice French woman patted me down.
We've had a fun day today. Went for a run around the Champ de Mars park at the bottom of the Eiffel tower. Tried speaking French to the shop keepers who just laughed and pointed to the receipt! The French are very kind to us.
We went out for lunch and I had some ravioli (how French) and it had something served on top which tasted a bit strange but I ate it anyway. I don't want to know what it was.
We had some French Champagne and French cheeses this afternoon with Naomi who I worked with at the Dept of Justice. We happened to realize via Facebook that we were in Paris at the same time. So she came to our apartment and we laughed so much our French neighbor knocked on our door to tell us to be quiet!
We've had some gypsy children come up to us trying to distract our attention. Darren's deep voiced Russian response of 'NO SPEAK!' seems to do the trick and frighten them off!
Off to do some shopping tomorrow. xxx
