God is American ... don't you forget it.
ok, so school is over and what have learned? mainly two things. how to drink like a pro and how to function on zero sleep. i loved school. or rather, i loved the fact that once school ended at 12:30, everyone would gather at j.j. cathedral...a bar...not a church, in the name of starting the fun early. next, we'd head straight to eby's latin bar...a restaurant, not a bar ( i know it's confusing, stick with me here)...for some of the best burritos you'll ever want to put in your mouth. all for real cheap. the best food ive had in italy thus far has been mexican. there's eby's and this place called tijuana, both were exceptional. truly exceptional. oh god, im actually drooling right now. the last two nights were spent at an incredible disco called Central Park, it's a bit of a hike outside of center city but well worth it (un tassi, per favore!). it is an outdoor dance club with two seperate floors, one for "american hip-hop" and the other for techno 80's remixes. fun all around. and the prices are so reasonable. only 10 euro (roughly 15 dollars) per drink (small, and all ice) i think the cover charge is around 25 euro but if you say you know Fabrizio, you get in free. this seriously works. ive done it twice. its open until 5am (just in time to go to school!).
last nite about seven of us went out for our last dinner a place called yellow bar for some legitimate italian food, really good. i ate brochetta, prosciutto con melone, spagehtti, and pizza. Fatty McFatterson.
ive also learned that if you want itlaian imersion, florence is not the city to come to. if you want to go out with a bunch of americans...to meet other americans, all while being hated by the locals, this is the place for you.
ive learned that, if ever taken hostage, sleep deprevation would not would work on me. the trip motto has been, "sleep when your dead...another breezer please!"
in all seriousness though, i had a great time in florence and am going to miss all the friends i made. there is talk of a reunion sometime in october. cant wait. jess will be here in 48 hours. i dont know exactly where i will be sleeping tonite or tomorrow. i wish i could just fast forward until monday. thats all for now. ciao.
