Hello All,
Well I am sorry its been so long. I did write a blog last week but for some reason it hasnt appeared. It wasnt very long as i didnt have much to write about. Things are slowing down now here. Trips to town and the swimming pool dont seem as exciting anymore so I'm afraid i forget to mention them.....
Work is still going well. It seems however as though we've done so much these past 9 weeks that they have run out of things for us to do. We've been working a lot further away deep in the forest this week so we've been driven there and back which is pretty fun!
Okay, so what is there to tell you about life here heyhey??? I had a ride on a BodaBoda (motorbike lol) last week. Was cool, i've never been on one before and it was much cooler too cos we're in africa lol! Anwyay, yeah the girl who owned it said she would teach me how to ride it and i got welll excited (Nathan showed a little concern as i seem to have been branded the accident prone one- i have no i dea why) Lol but i didnt have a second go, she didnt have time to teach me. Oh Well.
In other news, Ruth Rachel Benett has been removed from Kenya! Lol. After requesting to go home several times, then withdrawing her request our supervisor Mercy had enough and sent her home! Ruth has managed to get in several arguments with several of the members and after her last argument she got in a paddy, stayed in bed for over 48 hours not speaking to anyone! Being rude in the mean time to our mama Flo and Isaac! Tut Tut Tut- Jade and I got so annoyed at her, we managed however to hold our tongues lol. But yeah so she asked to go home after this little tiff she had with Matt and after her flight was booked and the plans had been made she decided she wasnt happy to go home and wanted to stay, bit late!!!! Yeah so she flew back to England on Wed, just two weeks before the rest of us.
Goodness me, yes two weeks thats all that is left- how extraordinary!? Well that was on wednesday, and as i am sure you will know it now SAturday. So we have less than that. Actually we have a little over a week left here in Meru then its bck to Nairobi for a couple of days then HOME!!!
I'm really going to miss Kenya and all the people! Its going to be very strange thinking i may never see them again. Some of us have become really good friends, its a shame really. And our home-stay families have all been lovely!!! LOL we love them so much just like a normal family, but Isaac our Dad is getting on mine and Jades nerves a bit- oh just like a normal family!!! LOL Jokes Dad!
Anyway, for one he has really smelly feet, two he snores really loudly and three, my goodness when we are watching a film (got a really cool Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie DVD) he talks ALL the way through!!!! If a powercut doesnt interupt us its Isaac! LOL and he doesnt pay attention to the film so ends up asking us loads of questions bout the storyline and the characters. LOL its become a bit of a joke now though, aw they do make us laugh!!!
Last week we went to this Safari Rally, was pretty cool. They didnt actually race or anything, we saw the cars, met the drivers and saw them drive off! WAs a really big event. The roads and paths were completely crowded with people. Never seen so many police and army men! We were treated like royalty! THey let us through to where the cars we parked and the drivers were. Our english status really came in handy. Man and there was this one car, No. 5 lol that had a button on the dashboard that was labelled FIRE..... how cool is that?!?!
Oh and this 50 year old Asian driver man wearing a chefs hat gave me his number lol!!! He called me from the crowd and asked if i wanted him to cook me breakfast lol (Nathan was not impressed in the slightest lol) Then we chatted for a bit and he walked off then came bak and gave me his number etc and said that if they won we were all invited to the party!!!! HAHA was a good day!
Hmmm what else is there to tell you??? I've been doing lots of cooking recently and i have requested to kill the chicken next time we have one which i think is on friday! How exciting i hear you say?!?!?
Oh yes there was something yesterday. We were walking on the road to our weekly meeting and in the distance we could see a massive hurd of a bout 50 camels crossing the road. We thought that was it, but as we got closer to our destination we had to cross this little bridge but could we get to it?!?!? NO. The farmers or whatever they are (shepherds lol???) had tried to get them to cross but only half of them would do so. I've got a video of these camels refusing to cross the bridge- was so funny. WE didnt know whether to go ourselves and risk getting trampled on by 20 odd giant camels. Man alive. We stood at the crossing for ages waiting to see what would happen. In the end we just ran past hoping the camels wouldnt immediately follow lol- they didnt!
SO i think that is about it.... No more excitement going on here. Got bout 3 days of work left and i believe we are digging another fish pond and continuing with another tree nursery.
HAHA it was so funny yesterday! Rashida doesnt have any friends that like Harry Potter so you can imagine her delight when she discovered how much i like it! But yesterday haha oh my goodness she decided to take our interest to another level! She found two sticks and decided we would have a duel. lol so there we were with our wands, we walked towards eachother, bowed then turned and walked 3 paces away and starting firing incantations at eachother!!!! The rest of the group know how crazy we are bout HP so just let us do our thing, often giving us stupid looks and frowns! LOL So yeah that was yesterday.
KK I really must go now. Hope you enjoyed the photos i added a while back.
Love you all. See you very soon! Me x x x
