Well Well Everyone,
What can i say? So much has been happening over here im sure i'll miss half of it out. Since my last blog we made a 4 hour Matatu (minibus) drive to our project here in Meru. We saw some lovely sights as we travelled including waterfalls and mountains. We were driving so fast however that i wasnt able to get my camera out in time. Oh well, on the way back i'll be prepared!
We all met the families that we'll be living with now for the next 8/9 weeks. We are with Isaac and Florence who are adorable and take very good care of us like killing huge spiders! No, they do lots and lots for us. Flo has taught us how to cook some Kenyan recipes- delicious! Living in our home stay is lovely, although we are usually woken up very early in the morning by music being played by their sons and a mixture of farm animals mooing and so on. Very strange.
We started our first project this week and hope to finish it early next week. We have worked really hard clearing an area to prepare a tree nursery. Some of the local HIV/AIDS women have come along to help, as it is for them we are doing this work. We are starting it off and leaving it for them to maintain and make money from! So its all good.
Oh and for the benefit of my family etc, i have introduced the phrase Bargains, which has now been adapted (with my help and permission) to Onion Bargains.....Bargains said in the right way not my silly way. Anyway, what else is there to say....
Told you i wouldnt be able to recite all the things i'd like to, i know that as soon as i sign off this computer i will remembner loads!
We are currently in Meru town, just bought a cold coke after an hours walk - (which was supposed to be shorter as we took a short cut, but obviously it didnt turn out to be any shorter) Oh well.
And i think we are bout to have pizza so i had better go!!!
Love you all lots and lots. Stephie. x x x
