Well Jambo Everyone,
As you can see i have managed to upload a photo on here now, only one tho im afraid. It took long enough for that one to decide it wanted to appear. If i have enough patience i might be able to add some more.... We'll see lol. So check my Photo Albums on here.
Well its quite obvious that photo was from my trip (nice choice of words steph) to the waterfall last weekend.
This weekend has been a lot more relaxed, we went to play football with some of the kids from Kiamiriru school yesterday but as we have discovered here in africa nothing is planned and certainly not with a time fame in mind so when we arrived there was no one around. A couple of the local kids however got a foot ball and we played 5 aside on the pitch. However they didnt seem to think we had much skill (well i certainly didnt and nor did Jade, and with us representing half of our team we didnt give us Mzungu's much of a name) so after a while the africans continued their game separately leaving us to play alone lol. Oh well, perhaps things will pan out a little better next week.
When did i last update you? Wednesday i believe, so that means we had finished clearing the solar fence and were about to begin our work on the fish pond. So Thursday came, we arrived at the area we were supposed to be digging and clearing, and as i have already said things arent really that wel planned here. SO there were 14 of us volunteers and we had bout 6 tools. Lol we worked as well as we could swapping the tools every 10 mins or so, and then a few more tools arrived. Surprisingly we managed to dig a huge pit bout 24ft x 12ft and 3ft deep. We did so well and worked so hard that we had the next morning off.
So Friday morning was spent washing clothes, (for me anyway) others sun-bathed! Oh what a life hey? Anyway, so after lunch and our weekly meeting we made our way up to a school close by and met the children and taught them for a couple of hours. Once again, a project very unplanned lol. The teachers seemed to think that we had some plan up our sleeves, but no Roxy and I were shoved into a year 1 class and given a piece of chalk each and told to do what we had come to do. There was a moment of awkward giggles lol then we managed to teach and test their English and Maths then let them teach us some of their fav songs. We then went outside and did the Hoki Koki or whatever it is lol.
So all in all a good but very unplanned end to the week lol.
Last night there was a little bit of drama. I am sharing a room with Jade and Ruth. I get on so so well with Jade and spend most of my time with her, Ruth however is a bit awkward- to say the least. On the first night in Africa she had already created a name for herself- the annoying and argumentative christian girl. So you can imagine how thrilled Jade and I were when we discovered she'd be spending the next 10 weeks with us. No, no it was okay. Jade and I are both quite calm, and we both managed to stay out of the arguments, i think thats why she was put with us- because we would tolerate her quite happily. Last night however Ruth went crazy. The problem is that she can be extremly rude to both Isaac and Flo- our parents here. So there is a bit of tension in the house at the minute as i managed to get into an argument with her last night. It started with her weekly moan and request to go home, I of course tried to comfort her etc but it just suddenly turned into a "lets have a go at steph" conversation that soon turned into an argument. SO yeah, we'll see how that goes. Its not fair that she stays if she is that unhappy, and is making others unhappy but i dont want her to go really. She is very awkward, but if she held her tongu then perhaps she would have more friends, i dunno. Bit of a toughy. Sure we'll come through tho.
Hopefully i manage to get some more pix on here, from the orphanage and my friends etc. Check out my facebook for pics too. Mum you will just have to look on someone's- get Dad to show you i think.
Well hope you are all having a lovely Dad's Day.
God Bless. x x x Me x x x
