Hey Everyone,
Well we spent today finishing off our tree nursery- planting the seedlings etc! Then we ended the day with a big water fight, watering cans and hoses were our weapons of choice!!!Was ace, we really needed a good cool down so it was lovely. Some got much wetter than others and we ended up very muddy in the end- oh well lol.
After today we are moving onto our second project, deep in the forest! We are going to be clearing away and pruning the tees etc that are causing problems for the solar fencing so that should be interesting, really looking forward to the change of scenery.
Some of the volunteers were invited to a funeral yesterday, and we are all attending one tomorrow. It's a bit sad really, after our arrival about 10 days ago "The Chief" a security guy in our local area was murdered quite brutally in his home.We had spent a few mealtimes with him etc so it was a bit of a shock to discover he had died.We all thought it right that we paid our respects and so we have the day off work tomorrow to attend, and by the sounds of things Kenyan funerals are very long so we shall see how that goes.
Anyway onto nicer things…… Its Rob's 22nd birthday this weekend so we are throwing him a little surprise party thing then heading into town for some food and drink etc.And on Sunday we are all going to the waterfall- it's gorgeous so will defo get some cool pics! You can walk right down to the river and get splashed by the falling water so that'll be nice.
We spent last Sunday at Kiamiriru Methodist Church- it was lovely, very different to English churches but nice all the same.Dragged up the front to introduce ourselves- scary stuff!
Last night Glex and Matt (our next door neighbour volunteers) came over and we spent a good 4 hours playing travel cluedo and scrabble lol- good times!!!
We have just been to Nakumatt and bought loads of chocolate then went to Sherlock's Den and ate some chips- more good times!!!
Well deary me, I have written loads. It shan't be long before I fill you in with all the info again I'm sure! But I had best go now.
Thank you for all your messages, really brings a smile to my face!I get some strange looks from the locals sometimes I'm smiling so much lol.
God Bless everyone!Speak soon, stay safe!Love you all lots and lots! X x x
