I actually don't have anything interesting to write today! It's been pretty chilled. I've been suffering with a pretty rank hangover so have taken today easy. We arrived in Eugene, Oregon around 10am and have spent the day catching up with Matt's friends and going for a few walks!
From what I have seen so far Eugene is stunning! It's so green and quiet. The campus looks really nice because all the buildings follow a similar theme. In Otago the buildings are so mix-matched with old and new buildings, whereas here they all follow a very similar theme so it looks really tidy.
There are also heaps of sport facilities everywhere! The place we are staying (Matt's friend's apartment) is a few minutes from campus so we are surrounded by all their sports facilities - such as the tennis courts, basketball stadiums, running track etc. Sports is obviously a very big part of the culture in this city!
I'm definitely happy to be spending a bit of time here - we are here for about eight days! It's great because this place feels so cosy and homey and it'll be nice to settle down for a bit. Matt and I have already been moving around so much - it's exhausting! Eugene feels very slow paced so I'm looking forward to seeing more of it :) We don't have any concrete plans yet - other than attending a football game on Saturday! The rest of the time we will be relaxing, looking at things around the city, etc.
For those who don't understand why we are here - last year Matt did an exchange to the University of Oregon here in Eugene! So it's a chance for him to catch up with friends and for me to see where he was living!
Already eaten a bit here. I blame it on the hangover… We went to a Mexican place and I ordered a burrito and it was HUGEEE!!!! Honestly can't believe how big it was - definitely at least three meals worth. We also went to Dutch Bros which is a cheap drink place! I had a really yummy wildberry smoothie with whipped cream. I got it for free since it was my first time buying from there! At the moment everyone is eating pizza. I still have half a burrito to eat so I decided to skip pizza tonight D:
Hope everything is going well back in Dunedin. I heard the weather has been quite warm recently so I'm sure you're all happy about that :) My blogs may not be that exciting for the next few days since we are going to take it easy. But if exciting things happen of course I will let you all know! Xx
p.s. IT RAINED WHEN WE WERE IN VEGAS! Only tiny spitting for an hour or so, but thought it was crazy!
