Breakfast at Select was a little bizarre today - battered cheese triangles served with fresh radish and vinegar. This morning we went to the hay-making field to finish what we had started. We continued with the raking of dead grass and stacking it up into bales. It was an extremely hot day which exceeded 30'C so we all took it easy with our work. It didn't take long to complete the job however so we left at around 1.30pm to have lunch at the apartment. This was a simple meal of chicken burger!
Laszlo gave us the rest of the afternoon off. While Michael recovered in bed from the previous night's drinking, the three of us trekked to the local spa on the edge of town. The spa was so relaxing and exactly what we needed in a swelteringly hot day! There was a large swimming pool, a whirlpool, a dipping pool, sauna and plunge pool. Kate and I tried to get massages (£10 for the hour!) but unfortunately the therapist was away from the spa for the day. However, after a big mix up and a confused chat on the phone, Simon accidentally booked a massage for the following day. He came off the phone very bemused as he hadn't been certain who exactly he had spoken to! It wasn't helped by the fact that the conversation had taken place in broken English....
We amused ourselves in the pool by doing 'outlandish swimming' which involved coming up with the most ridiculous swimming style possible and trying to do a length of it! This was all happening in front of a Hungarian swimming class so the kids must have thought the British swim very strangely.
After laughing til we cried, we made our way back home to chill out in the garden for a bit. All too soon it was time for dinner at Select, where we had butterbean soup, followed by battered pork and grated potato. The rest of the evening was spent gazing at the river from the bridge, watching the River Cat Gang and the swooping bats.
