What an amazing couple of days in Florence! I left France wondering how anything could compare. When I first arrived in Florence, apart from trying to make my way through the cobbled maze of streets, I found it hard to understand what the fuss was all about. Now admittedly I wan't well, I didn't have a map and managed to take an hour to find the starting point for my Cooking in Tuscany course - which was only suppose to take 5 minutes :) Lucky I left myself an hour to get there.
The city grows on you as you relax, drop the pace and wander around aimlessly looking at the impressive skyline. I was lucky enough during my first day -- the amazing cooking class to find another fellow Aussie from Brissy that visits Florence for several weeks each year. I am saying I'm lucky as not only have I made another fabulous friend to catchup with back at home, Lee helped to introduce me to the Florence lifestyle.
Starting with the Cooking Class, a must for anyone visiting Florence, the Food and Wine Academy run a fantastic 5/6 hour class which incorporates a visit to the local produce market where together with the chefs, you visit several stores to try various cheeses, vinegars, accompneyments
