RomaGlad to be out of Ancona, and into pleasant surroundings. We arrived at the camping grounds, nestled into our canvas tent. After an Hour of being there I bumped into an old friend from Perth. Who would of guess, on the other side of the world you still see people from home. So we did what anyone else would of and celebrated the occasion with a few beverages and shisha (hubbly bubbly). As the night continued and the campsite went to be we were still having fun, the security guy Jumbo had a stern word to us, so we contained the party inside the boys room. We were in the room, but had no part in breaking the bed or moving all the furniture to enable us to all sleep on matrices on the floor. The boys managed to get themselves escorted off the campsite the very next morning bright and early. The next day we set off on our adventure to see Rome. After trying to work out how to actually get into the city as we were camping 45min out of town, we found ourselves in the heart of it. Vatican city to one side and Castel Saint Angelo to the other. We discovered the Pantheon, a 2000 year old temple which still has architects wondering how they built it. Area Sacra, a historical sight to ruins and the beautiful Fountain of Trevi , Legend has it that a traveller who throws a coin into the fountain is ensured a safe return to Rome, and one who throw two will fall in love. So I threw six.. who knows what that mans. May I add we ate the biggest cheap ice cream hear, three flavours for 2 Euro. Ah Dangerous. Maybe the guys who cleans the fountain will be rich. We also visited the Colosseum which blew my mind away. It was so cool. Would have been amazing in its day 80 AD. wow that's some old rock. After a full day we waited for th bus for ages. Ended up getting home at 10pm, crawled into bed and was dead.So the plan was to be up early and visit the Vatican city. But little did we know, or remember that you have to be wearing approate clothing to enter. So short, shorts and a shoes string singlet was not our ticket in. However the day wasn't waisted. We visited Piazza de Popolo, the Spanish steps and also went to and Imax like movie thing which explained the history of Rome. How informative. Later that evening we caught up with the old busabout crew and had a mini BBQ thanks to Josh's 12 euro coal babrie. Nothing like sitting in a campsite with a bunch of Aussies around a BBQ. Feels like home.
