Leisurely breakfast, then decided to walk to the Russian Market. Very few "pavements", as such, so on constant alert for oncoming traffic (from all directions!). Crossing the road was especially scary, even when the "green man" was showing.
Plunged into the chaos of the hot, sticky, smelly corridors inside the market. Hundreds of stalls: clothes, materials, jewelry, ornaments, food, hardware, CDs, DVDs, souvenirs etc, etc. L bought a silk dressing gown ($6) & a bag ($4.50), kids got Dr Who & Barbie DVDs ($9 the lot)
Quick drink to cool down outside, then started to walk back to hotel. Decided to grab a tuk-tuk, & got taken the "scenic route", to say the least! Once back at hotel, showered & changed, and decided to try the restaurant at the end of the street. Very little English spoken, and no English on the menu!
Ordered, with the help of Gunther (from Costa Rica), who also gave us advice on where to go when in CR. L:Lok Lak (excellent!); J: rice & seafood; M: rice & chicken; D: bits of everyone else's, as the 4th dish we ordered never arrived! $10 the lot!!
Back to hotel for kids turn to shower, and then do homework. Then downstairs for a drink, and L&M played J at battleships, somewhat less successfully than the previous might's game! Then to bed.
