The weather was much better today. We walked up to the walk point which is the highest accessible part of Phi Phi Island. It was a very beautiful view, where we could see the whole island, though unluckily I couldn't quite capture it all on camera.
We walked from there to the other side of the island to check out another beach and ended up with on a surprise jungle trek. Funnily enough this trek had the harshest jungle terrain we'd seen, even over the mountain trek Chiang Mai and the Gibbon Experience in Laos!! Unprepared for the expedition, I was wearing flip flops and my skin was 100% deet free. I was slipping all over the shop, being eaten alive by dozens of mozzies, batting off leaches and watching out for falling coconuts for a full forty minutes. It was just the price we had to pay for this beach apparently.
At the end of the horrid trek, we made it to the beach. With the expectations of the best beach in the world, me and Isaac ran into the sea to dive in. This was a huge mistake; the seabed was completely covered in harsh coral. We collapsed in the water moaning and disappointedly climbed out. We found another bit which seemed to look less coral infested and waded in. But to our despite, that was also a massive mistake. As I put my foot down, several sea urchin spikes harshly pierced through my skin on one of my feet, the pain was unexpected and horrible. Spikes in my toes, I started shouting Jessie and Nic away from the sea, who were just about to come in. I tried to pull out the spikes, but most of them broke and got stuck in. A couple of minutes in I tried to walk out, but felt the prickle of another sea urchin. I panicked and quickly became hysterical, crying like a baby and terrified to put my feet down, Isaac came to the rescue and carried me to the land, wading through water, over rocks and creatures and then settled me down on the sand. Some locals came over and knew what to do. They squeezed lime juice over my foot and started banging away at it with a ketchup bottle and after that it was all good. After I calmed down and we had a chill on the beach, I wasn't really in a position to walk the jungle trek again, so we grabbed a long boat home :).
