Met up with Kirsten and michael and went on a drive around west Maui. We hit Lahaina first and walked up and down front street looking in the shops and galleries. We then drove around the hair pin bends and found a good stop. We walked down a load of stairs to find Slaughterhouse Beach, very good for snorkling and body surfing apparently. Our next stop was Wakalele Point which is a look out point where you can see for miles!! Very beautiful. We found the Olivine pools which Kirsten was really keen to find. You have to walk down the cliff to a group of large sheltered rock pools where people relax amongst the crashing waves around the rocks. We got half way down the steep rock and Hannah dramatically slide down and grazed her knee.... we decided that flip flops were not the shoes for the job and thought...hey we're close enough...took our pictures and headed back up!! Where we stopped the car were lots of rocks that had been placed one ontop of the other, we thought that it was some sort of sacred good luck charm if you leave one there, but we found out that they actually have no meaning at all, someone just started off the trend and people followed!!
Once we had managed to get around the west side of the island we headed back to the hostel. Kirstens friend from home (Seattle) was arriving at the airport so we waited back at the hostel for her to arrive. She was just as lovely as Kirsten, we went for a few beers at the local bar and then headed into Lahaina. Kirsten and Kate decided that they wanted to go into the sea...baring in mind that it was dark! They were crazy and just ran into the sea! Me and hannah we happy to just watch!! We then had dinner and a few cocktails at a place called Kimos and headed home.
