We went on one of the hostels free tours today. It was to Big Beach and Little beac on the south west of the island. There was a mini bus full of us and we stopped off at Safeways to get supplies for the day. Big beach was beautiful. A lot bigger than the beach in paia, the sand was softer and the waves were less intense! Although one wave did wipe out hannah in which she lost her bikini and got a mouth full of sandy salt water, was very funny!! We all sunbathed whist watching the body surfers. Me, Hannah and Kirsten (from Seattle) went for a swim in which i saw something pop a head or a fin out of the water which totally freaked me out. We later decided that it may of been a big fish or a turtle. Kirsten went snorkling and actually saw a giant turtle so i decided to borrow her snorkling things and go check it out myself. The fish were beautiful but I suddenly thought to myself that visability was getting worse and i was actually quite far out in deep water on my own....ahhhhh.....swam very fast back to shore, didn't see a turtle tho.
Our next part of the tour was to climb up a little rocky hill over to Little beach next door. We hear this part of the tour was the most fun so with 3 hours of the tour left we all walked over to the other side. The only thing different about this beach is that it was clothing optional!!! We went from a quite big beach to an absolutely packed little beach....obviously the place to be! After a while seeing loads of naked people didnt seem so strange, they draw to the beach on the sunday was the naked hippies get their drums and instruments out nd have a party. Everyone (well only the exhibitionists!) were dancing around and going crazy to the drums...it was actually really fun! We all watched the sunset which was incredible, I felt rather spiritual (if only for a couple of minutes!). Don't worry mum - I'm not going to come home a hippie! We got the bus back to the hostel and walked with Kirsten and song (from honolulu) to get some food....then a much needed sleep!
