Had a early start and left hostal at 5.45am to get to Karnak temple for sunrise. Had to wake the hostal assistant up as the hostal entrance door was locked up.
A nice feeling to be alone on the streets with the cool breeze. Took a minibus to Karnak temple and paid 5 Egyptian pounds although think i should have paid 3!! When i arrived at Karnak temple they hadnt opened up so looked around from the outside. This temple was too big for my liking and even after 3 hours of looking didnt really get much out of it. The best part was watching the sun come up.
Headed to Luxor museum for 9am and was asked if i wanted a taxi at least 5 times and also if i wanted a caleche which means a ride with the horse and cart at least 4 times.
Luxor museum was very interesting and really enjoyed it, it displayed lots of figures of the pharoahs and gods but also gave information about each piece in english. It also had an information documentary film.
Decided to make my way to the Mecure hotel, not to stay there but to use their pool as i looked at it yesterday and looked very inviting. Tried to upload photo but this computer will probably still be doing it next week so no photo of pool at the moment.......
It was luxury going into hotel as air conditioning nearly blew me away. Fell into pool and dozed off for the afternoon on sun lounger.
Had lunch at hotel and returned to hostal. Met a french guy who was in his own travel world so read a bit of footprint guide.
Went to Mish Mish again for dinner where i went yesterday and had lots of proposals on my way back.
Even though i have done a lot today still have lots of energy so went to Luxor temple at night (9pm) i have made a friend on a motorbike who keeps following me around Luxor and everywhere i go he seems to be there......
Luxor temple is right in the centre of Luxor and amongst the hussle and bussle once you get inside it is a very spiritual place. There was only 6 to 8 other people in there and felt like my own temple. I really liked this temple and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I touched the pillars and really felt the good energy coming through.... Near the end of my visit i was really on a different planet and a guard came up to me and said hello excuse me i show you something and nearly told him to get lost. I have noticed that the guards do this a lot in museums to get baksheesh (tips). I told him no thank you in a firm but definite voice.
Luxor city seems to come alive at 9pm as the temperature is much cooler and lots of families congregate around luxor temple square. I do get a lot of hassle here but everybody is very friendly and they are only doing it to earn a living.....
My motorbike friend found out where i was staying and think he is going to be a pain in the butt as he followed me back to my hostal and told him i was not going to go on the back of his bike and i was going to sleep......
