Hello!
Well another two days have passed since wrote in here, in which time I have begun my volunteering! Yesterday me and Pradip went around 5 different places which were all fantastic and different in their own way - but i decided on a place called growing buds pre-school which has 25 children and is a bus ride away from where I am staying. I am working there mon-fri from 10-4 and am teaching english and science and will even have the chance to learn some Nepali! Every morning we sing in Nepali and I have no idea what the songs mean but I sing along as best i can and the actions are all pretty good!
I also got to play some games which was highly amusing with the language barrier! I ended up wearing a sari scarf rund my eyes and chasing the teacher around the room making cat noises to he amusement of the children!
I also get to help feed the which is quiet touching, and even after a day i have realised that although language is a barrier it is not the end of the world and if there are two things that are universal its laughing and smiling which we all do so much of. One of the greatest things is the afternoon in which we put on Nepali music and dance - the children just run around but the teachers are fantastic at it and I picked some up which they said seemed a natural at.
As well I have been given a Neplai name its Shanti wich meams peace as I have a peaceful heart, it feels like a real hounour. Oooo and our picture is on the front of the himalayan times from he mud and rice festival! I have the paper which cost 2p and shall bring it home.
Bye for now :)
Smiles and love
Rachel
