Well today was my last day volunteering as there are strikes for the rest of the week!
I cant believe how quickly is has come around and needless to say I have had the most amazing time - the school is amazing as are all the teachers and children and I know they have impacted me greatly and I will never forget them. They have treated me as a friend and taught me so much and have been so happy and grateful to have me work with them.
As I was leaving they threw me a mini party which was so sweet! They all sung me the song Fulka Aankma which I have been learning which is about the four noble truths and has to be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard in my life. They said it was their gift to me - and its certainly heart felt and heart warming. Then i had to get up (by myself) in the middle of the circle of children and do the Nepali dance I have been learning. I think it went rather well to be honest! All the children clapped along and I had a great time. Then we all did some dancing too - it was really fun.
The children brought me flowers from the garden and the teachers had bought me two traditional Nepali scarfs and a CD of Nepali music which also has the song Fulko Annakma on - needless to say I shall be sharing that with everyone when I'm home! It really did bring tears to my eyes how much I had fitted into a family in only four weeks - the time has flown by and they are the most amazing, friendly and loving people. They would do anything to make me feel welcome and were so grateful for all my help and said they want me to come back as soon as possible. I have taken their email addresses and we are all going to keep in touch. Plus I have loads of photos to remember them all by.
So hardly anytime left now - the next couple of days there will be strikes so I won't be up to much - getting ready to leave and go to Chitwan, and possibly going back out on the lake in the Kayaks!
Its so sad that my time volunteering was cut short but I have to say that it has been the most rewarding experience and one I certainly wont forget - and will talk you all to death about once I am home. Can't wait to share all my pictures as well so you can see how amazing all the children are.
Thinking of you all - miss you
Rachel
