Well, I managed to find some flora fossils before a thunderstorm came along and ran me out of the digsite. It was fun and I'd like to go back to try for more. I got to keep 3. The site was the bottom of a lake bed in the Eocene era (49-50 million years ago!). I recommend the experience if you find yourself in the area. After that, I took a long ride to Chris' condo in East Wenatchee. I expect to lounge here for a day or two before moving on.

Day 4 - Long ride today. .. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to the sound of rain. I got up about 20 minutes later with the birds. By the time I'd broken down camp and started rolling, it was 6:10ish and still raining. Had a lovely ride in the misty mountains and as I climbed in altitude I noticed a distinct drop in temperature. Day 3? I've already lost track. Today started with a trip to Ural NW (still in Bellingham) for the 10k service on the blue moose. I dropped it off at 8a - an hour before they opened - so that Mark the service guy could start in on it immediately once they opened. He reckoned it'd be 3 hrs or so to do the whole service. Day 1 (continued)- 5:00 pm After coffee I headed down to the historic section of town called Fairhaven. Comprised of a few square blocks of lovingly restored brick and stone buildings that are filled with art shops, bistros, and other pointless retail establishments, Fairhaven is quaint. At times slightly too polished in it's "historic" veneer, it nevertheless has some lovely nooks and crannys where one can read a book and enjoy an adult beveridge.

Day 1 - Today went as planned: Pack the bike, clean the house, kiss the dog, and hit the road! I left Seattle before noon so as to avoid rush hour on my way north.
