Darren's back to school! so we woke up early and headed back to his apartment after grabbing a slice of toast. We walked to USC and had a little tour around his campus. After Darren met up with his accounting counselor, we stuck with Joy for a little bit before his International Tax class started. Met up with more of his friends and made our way into the classroom. Professor Wayne was cool with me sitting in so everything was alright. Even chatted with him a little about travel. I really liked the atmosphere of the class, especially the interaction between student and professor.
After class, Darren's friends decided that they'd take me to Sushi Gen at Little Tokyo, apparently the best place for sushi. I had salmon teriyaki, which was delicious, but passed on sushi. so it turns out that one of Darren's classmate, 21 in grad school, skipped 4 years of high school and will be transferring to Stanford for law next semester. How impressive. Anyhow, while we were waiting for Alexandra on the sidewalk, a homeless guy came up to us wanting a high five, or money to be exact. My first time ever being approached by a homeless person, so I was quite fidgety when everyone kept silent and ignored him. When he left, we all rushed to the car and waited in the protection of locked doors. Joy dropped Alexandra, Darren, and I off at the apartment and we went for some Bobba Tea. We left around 4 p.m. and headed to Disneyland after dropping Alexandra off at her apartment.
Darren borrowed her friend's annual pass so that I could be Amanda for the day. Luckily the lady didn't even take a glance before letting me in! Happily satisfied. We wanted a picture of Mickey but, sadly, our photographer totally missed its entirety. We started off with Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, and ended the day with Indiana Jones. Not much excitement, but I was glad I got to spend time with Darren and got to know him better. We visited the souvenir store so that I could pick up some gifts and grabbed some beignet, first try for me, before leaving. These french doughnuts are somewhat similar to malasadas in a sense. Darren got sugar all over him while he was munching though, hah. We were surprised to see fireworks while we were driving away, since Disney stopped them not long ago.
We headed straight for the airport around 9 p.m. Darren's roommate, Glenn, was coming back from Hawaii today. We thought we were going to be late, but as it turns out, we still had time to stop by the gas station. While finishing up my beignets, it was my turn to be covered with sugar. There was a hole in the paper bag so I became as sugar coated as Darren was. We headed back to the apartment and reheated shoyu chicken for our late night dinner. I checked my mail while Darren took a shower and was pleasantly surprised that I was offered a 2,500 scholarship for next semester. More than what I was expecting, so I guess my plans of being a part time student and taking things slow will be changed. We drove back to Uncle Andy's place for the night and ended the day on a tiring note, with salmon teriyaki sauce on the sleeves.
