Hey everyone!
I just got back from Lisbon Portugal. It was absolutely amazing! The city wasnt quite as big and chaotic as Sevilla is, so it was nice. We stayed in a 5-star hotel the whole time and went on some pretty awesome tours. We got there Friday at about one in the afternoon and checked into the hotel. We then ventured off to find lunch for a while and then went on a tour to el castillo de San Jorge which was up on this big hill and overlooked the city and the ocean. It was stunning. We then went to la plaza del comercio which is like the center of the city. It had many restaurants and shopping (which I hardly liked ;)). We then had free time so we walked around the street and had dinner. The restaurant was on a busy street and we ate outside. The people dress very nice there, heels and dresses, dresspants and ties. Many people in Portugal spoke Engligh...we knew the portugese basics. We got along fine with the language but I never though I would say I miss speaking Spanish! (it gets a bit much after a while and sometimes you just want to speak English!) On Saturday we went to el barrio de Belem which is a small castle right on the ocean. we explored it on our own but it was very cool. We also went to El Monasterio de los Jeronimos which was a very big church with the tombs of 4 different kings of Portugal inside. After that we went on a panaramic tour of the city by bus. We saw many different statues, flags, important buildings, etc. Then, we found lunch at a little cafe, had coffee and Portugal pastries and went shopping around! We then got ready and went to an awesome dinner spot. It was very hidden but some friends had heard about it. We got steaks and they were absolutely delicious. We went to a few bars but the younger generation of Portugese were not very accepting to Americans so that wasnt too fun. Then sunday, we headed back home on the 5 hour bus trip!
High point of the day: Waking up in a 5 star hotel
Low point of the day: 5 hour buss ride
What I miss the most: My own room
What I learned today: Lisbon is a beautiful city!
