Took Finn into Perth to see Santa during the last late night shopping, the grotto was amazing, free train rides and gifts from santa all set out in an enchanting scene of 'santa's playground'. In with Santa was Rudolph curled up on the floor. there was some kind of mechanism in his belly that made it look ike he was breathing, i have to say he was pretty good but there was no fooling Finn, he promptly asked Santa, 'is he not working'?!! Also caught part of a live nativity show in the shopping mal square they had real animals there including camels !
Friday evening after work we left and drove 2.5 hours south of Perth to Bunbury. we liked this area last year when we visited, it has great infrustructure, a well designed community, poppulation of 30,000 people and great watersports being on the coast, they evenhave a purpose built outdoor theatre. Stayed in a beautiful B & B with views from the breakfast room overlooking the estury. We then headed a further 50km south to bussleton, another great place but maybe more populated during summer months. Visited a small wildlife park where we hand fed parrots and Kangaroos - Finn thought this was amazing ! Drove back on saturday night with wild kangaroos by the side of the road and miles and miles of native bushland - you get a real feel of true Australia.
sunday night went to 'Supreme Court Gardens' in Perth for 'Carols By Candlelight'. Was great being in such a beautiful location by the River Swan with carols and candles, it all finished with a grand firework display.
Christmas Eve popped to supermarket for fresh bread, croissants etc, que's, what que's there was no great rush or huge surge of people.
off then to Leighton Beach, Freemantle to check it out for a suitable venue for Christmas day - wow it was an awesome beach, even got to se a 6ft shark, dont know what model it was, however felt like a jaws movie ! Bloke on a canoe shouts 'shark' everyone got out and watched this shark gracefully swim by about 50 feet from the shore, the water was that clear. the bloke in the canoe was trying to follow him - is he mad! Hey will all still got back in!
Christmas Eve Finn had to leave out his goodies for Santa, bottle of beer, 2 carrots for his reindeer and a nice big, homemade i hasten to add, mince pie. Off to bed went a very excitable young man, Finn that was !
An early rise Christmas morning with Finn telling us 'He's been'! showing us the prezzies under the tree, bless him he managed to step over his stocking in his bedroom and miss all the magic dust on the floor from door to tree to finns room (see santa uses doors here - we have no chimneys)! Late brecky after some opening of presents , cereal, croissants and pancakes with maple syrup - yum yum
then off to the beach - 40 degrees today - beautiful
our evening meal was of course a BBQ ! we had king prawns in a garlic butter sauce for starter, followed by burgers, chicken , salad and then 4 different desserts - we were suitably stuffed !!
Boxing Day had to be a fry up, went to Kings Park for a few hours was so hot 44 degrees - is the hottest xmas it has been for 95 years and apparently was hottest place in the world on boxing day ! we figured another day on the coast would be a better option !
Finn still had some prezzies on boxing day to open so finished these off. I somehow managed to cook a roast, which i have to say did not enjoy cooking or eating in there temperatures
we had a lovely few days, i dont think it really felt like Christmas, im sure it wont take too long to get used to a hot one ! between sun or rain i know which i prefer !!
Hope you all had a great Christmas and all have something fun planned for New Years Eve
LOTS OF LOVE
