You will already know what I got up to today if you have looked at my photos.... If you havent bothered, a) Please do, they take forever to put on there b) I will tell you anyway what I got up to.
I had most of the day free, until football that started at 18.00 at UWC (I'm getting the idea that the 'business' gets the most money from the expensive expat schools). I got up relatively early though, leaving the apartment at 8.30 to go to the supermarket to get breakfast and lunch. I actually got half a loaf of bread and cheese which I thought would do for both. Getting anywhere from East Coast is a nightmare, so I had to get a bus inland to Eunos, then a MRT to Bugis, and then changed to get to Bayfront. I got there for 10.00, beating the queues into the Garden by the Bay. The first dome wasn't great, mostly trees and flowers, but neither were particularly interesting. The second dome was really good though, with an absolutely massive waterfall. There was a lift to the top (30m I believe) where you walked along the "cloud trail" which was fun, looking down at the waterfall and plants. Inside the mountain, there were exhibitions on climate change, food shortages, deforestation and all that stuff, which would have been interesting 2 weeks ago for my exams, but now I couldn't care less about. I got back to the apartment at about 15.00, and left for football about an hour later. That was a mega trek to get to, taking about an hour. This highlights my point from earlier about it taking forever to get anywhere from the East Coast, as UWC is only just the other side of the business hub. Football was good, and much cooler at a respectable temperature of 30 degrees. I didn't get back to the apartment until 21.00, and couldn't be bothered to go and find a hawker stall, so I got a meal from KFC just down the road. Since then, I have just been relaxing, and working out what I am going to do tomorrow - its the same format of no football until the evening, so I should probably do something rather than spend all day in bed.
And I didn't spend all day in bed! Struggled to sleep last night, so I didn't get up until 10.30ish, and went across to the Food Court where I had traditional noodles again. They are so good, and you can see them making the noodles. I had planned to go straight from there and hire a bike to cycle along the East Coast Park before it got too hot, but when I left the shopping centre, it was raining!! I had my umbrella with me in my bag, so I put that up and jogged back to apartment. The rained stopped at about 12.00, so once the ground had dried out a little, I went round and hired a bike. It cost £4 (S$8) for 3 hours - you got the second hour free, and then an extra hour free if you like them on Facebook, which I did and then unliked again after. I headed out towards Bayshore and Changi, and the cycling was easy. The path is kept perfectly, and it was quite cool, only about 30 degrees and low humidity. I went all the way to Changi, and stopped almost under the flight path of the planes taking off, which was pretty good. It had taken around an hour to get there, so I headed back, had some food from Starbucks, and gave the bike back with time to spare. After a quick shower, I left to UWC again, which took forever to get to again. That was good fun, even though it started to become really humid again. On the way home after football, 2 of the other people staying in the apartment with me stopped off and had food at a hawker stall just a little further towards Changi from where we stayed a few years ago, opposite the petrol station on East Coast Road. The food was very good, and I have only just got back to the apartment. Thats the worst thing about these evening session, once they finish and you have eaten, its 22.30 before you shower and relax. Anyway, once this is uploaded I will start to think about what I will do tomorrow (same format as today and yesterday), but I also have the whole of Friday off too, so may just chill tomorrow... we will see. In other news, I arrived here a week ago! Gone so quickly, though I have a mega tan (and tan line from a watch) and have begun adjusting to the heat.
