I have decided I will try to write one of these every evening, but combine a few days together at a time to form slightly longer posts. That way it helps me write everything down without forgetting things.
It was the final day of the football summer camp today (Friday), so I was up at Victoria Junior College for 8.30 and already 29 degrees. That was long and hot, but good fun. I caught the bus back towards the apartment (its too hot to walk, and the 5 minute bus journey only costs 70 cents) and actually grabbed some food from McDonalds at the Parkway Parade Shopping Centre. I'm not normally going to get food there, but I needed the toilet and the ones in there have A/C....!! Then it was back to VJC for the elite academy training for their football tournament in Sweden in a few weeks time. I didn't do any coaching this time, just watching, but it brought back nice memories of doing the same sort of training when I used to play. I got back to the apartment at around 17.30, had a shower and relaxed for a bit, before heading around the corner to the hawker stalls within the 'estate' and grabbing some food to takeaway. I took this to East Coast Park and ate at a bench overlooking the sea (and the flight path...).
Today (Saturday) I had a slight lie in, getting to VJC for 9.30. The morning was very busy, and I didnt have much of a break until around 13.00. I then got the bus back towards the apartment, and went to the food court under Parkway Parade Shopping Centre for lunch (Duck and Noodles). I wasn't sure what time I had to be back at VJC for, so I headed back. I found out I didn't actually have to be back until 16.30 so I went back to Parkway Parade Shopping Centre again and went to Starbucks and just relaxed with a drink and the A/C. I prefer doing that than going to the apartment. It has been so hot again today - you know its hot when the Singaporean coaches are complaining of the heat! Aparently it hasn't rained for around a week, and got up to 35 degrees by 11.00 this morning. I got back to VJC for 16.30 and finished there at 19.00, getting back to the apartment at 19.30. I showered before going to get some food. I actually went to the same place as the day before, and again got it put in a box/tub to take to East Coast Park. By then it was dark with a nice cool breeze (though still mega hot!) and I ate on the same bench the day before, overlooking the sea. Quick tip, its actually easier to spot the aeroplanes at night with their lights rather than during the day when everything is quite hazy. I have literally only realised, but I actually had Duck and Noodles again (for lunch and this evening), though these were more spicy than the ones I had at lunch. After eating I spent a while just wandering up the path the opposite way to which I normally walk, so towards the CBD. I hadn't realised how popular this area was, especially on a Saturday evening. There are a number of restaurants overlooking the sea, all packed with mainly locals and a few tourists.
I have just noticed this is quite long, so sorry for that, and sorry that you had to read it all. I hope I am writing the right sort of thing. If not, do let me know.
