Not such a great day. Jen and I got up about 1pm, went out to get some lunch, came back and watched a movie then went cormorant fishing.
The fishing bit was quite cool, we went out on a little boat and followed this guy in a small boat with cormorants attached to it on string, they were just visible under the lone hanging light at the head of the boat.
When they saw something they would dive below the water, come up with a fish and the boatman would pull the bird out of the water and then open it's mouth so the fish fell out, sometimes many fish would come out.
We went to the far side and everyone got chance to get closer to the birds and have their photos taken with one for a small fee (Jen and I declined). Then it was back on the boat and back to the start. The whole thing only lasted just over an hour, but it was amazing to think that for centuries people actually fished and supported their families in this way, though now its just a tourist gimmick I suspect.
We got off the boat and had a little wander about town, then headed back to the hostel for an early night. The owner handed us a note which turned out to be from Gian, inviting us up to the roof bar for a beer as they wanted to see us again before we left.
We did and almost straight away made plans with the guys to go bike riding the next day. That done Jen went to bed and I stayed up to play a****** and pool for a while tentatively sipping a bit of beer. They kept asking me where the guy from last night was (meaning me, I'm just a lot quieter sober) and I apologized blaming too much beer and my old age.
After a while, I said my goodbyes and looked forward to meeting the guys for breakfast in the morning.
