Located at the southern point of Lake Vattern is a town called Jonkoping which we stayed in for 3 nights. Again we weren't blessed with the nicest weather but we made the most of our time here. Andrew turned 31 here and as he wished we spent the morning in the gym of all places (contributed by a guilty conscience to work off some of the fantastic food we've been lucky enough to experience). We mixed it up with some swimming, spa, sauna and massages before heading to the 27 hole A6 golfklubb. Perfectly manicured green course, a bit snobby, but the sun came out and we enjoyed a lovely 9 holes before retreating for a nice dinner at a beautful French restaurant called Hemma.
We've also been intrigued by the incredible seafood restaurant on the pier which we ate at no less than 3 times. They have a smoking oven which they place layers and layers of prawns, salmon and other flavoured fish in to smoke for 8 hours. They open the oven as it finishes cooking which is priceless advertising to passers-by, including us who resembled Odie from the Garfield comic when we clapped our eyes and noses on it!
A little bit of shopping in the boutique shops, relaxing and lots of eating has resulted in fond memories of Jonkoping. Off to Gothenberg tomorrow.
...photos are on their way, we promise!
