The Island of Koh Samui.
So we are now on the part of the trip which takes us to the beautiful islands of Thailand, and we are all very excited. We have been waiting for this part of the trip for ages now, or so it seems like ages. We arrive to Don Sak Pier and board the ferry bound for Koh Samui, the ferry takes around 1 ½ hrs though is amazing...out on the deck, wind blowing in your hair, sun beating down on you and surrounded with nothing but clear blue water and little remote islands. When we arrive at Koh Samui we transfer to the Sandy resort by mini bus. Our accommodation at the resort is little bungalows that sit at about a 5 minute walk from the beach and guess who my roommate is... Christina haha, sooooooo. They are fan cooled so it’s very warm inside. After leaving my bags in my room I take a walk down to the beach...WOW, I am greeted with the amazing view of endless clear blue water, white sand and little boats floating along the edge of the water selling corn on the cob and fresh fruit. I was so impressed I had to take a picture and send it to my Daddy back home, sorry ha-ha. After a beautiful lunch at the poolside bar we get our beach gear on and head down to the beach for some sunbathing and volleyball. I now feel like I am in paradise, amazing feeling. Later that night we get ready, girls getting glammed up with maxi dresses and make -up and hair. Little did I know when we set off into the main town that this night was going to be a night that I will NEVER forget. The start of the night kicks off at dinner, our tour guide and new friend Golf has a big surprise for us. He takes us down to a restaurant which sits right down on the beach front, comfy square blocks with cushions that we sit on with the table stretching down the middle. The restaurant is called the 7 seas and it sits right on the sand. We get to pick fresh fish for our dinner from a stand that sits right at the water. Meal is amazing and even better when it’s washed down with a pina colada. Everything that you order in Koh Samui, food and drinks, always arrives out with an orchid on the side, purple in colour, I kept stealing them for my hair, they are so pretty. During our meal there are people coming up to us with monkeys and lizards wanting pictures taken with them, so weird. There are fireworks going off over the ocean, it’s the Thai Queens birthday today that’s why there is so much going on. After an amazing dinner we head back to the main street in town where all the girls head to a top class bar and have cocktails, sex in the city style! Those girls don’t have s*** on us ha-ha. We go get the guys and head back down to the beach where the party really begins. We get a table with cushioned stools that sit close to the ground and order in the cocktails. Michelle the crazy Canadian suggests that we all get a shiza pipe, so after her twisting our arms (yea right) we order an apple flavoured one. Was bloody well hilarious smoking these. Fireworks are going off around us and lanterns are floating into the sky, it’s all so surreal. The table beside us has a bunch of lady boy’s dancing on it and also a gay Thai boy, little did we know that they would be our best friend by the end of the night ha-ha. The gay Thai was called Tony, he took me man hunting around the beach, trailing me by the hand, giving guys a percentage out of 100...99.9%.... ohhhh blue shirt 100% ha-ha, and when I try and introduce him to some guys he slaps my arm and calls me a b**** then trails me on again...very funny. There are children who are around 7,8,9 years of age going around on their own selling flowers and playing connect 4 with people. James in our group was getting very frustrated when the kid kept beating him at it. Golf bought all us ladies a flower necklace, made out of real orchids, was beautiful. We got ourselves a lantern and what they make you do is write your wish on it and then send it into the sky, so we all take it in turns to write our wish, then we make our way to the water where we light the inside and watch it float into the black sky with all the rest of them...the sky was lit with little orange dots, was incredible. We met around seven French guys which was very funny, they were lovely...we smoked some of their shiza pipe as well because they freaking well had like four of them. We met a few guys from Melbourne who took us onto another nightclub, Lorna by this stage had lost her flip flops so was wearing a pair of the Melbourne guys flip flops ha-ha, on the way we pick up a few lads from Dublin so it’s a right oul crowd we have ha-ha. Everyone is very very drunk and Michelle decides that she wants to get a ride on a mechanical bull that they have in the middle of this nightclub, Jesus, so on she pops and off she falls ha-ha very funny. Hmmm I’ll not go on too much about the rest of the night, but we all get in at 7am ;) The only way to describe this night is surreal... was like seven days...was like a lifetime even in one night. Brilliant, will never forget it.
So after arriving back in at 7am I go to sleep for about an hour then get up and head to the beach, I have the worst hangover in the world today. The day doesn’t consist of much else apart from sunbathing, swimming, sleeping, reading, eating corn on the cob from the boat in the ocean and drinking lots and lots of water. At dinner we walk along the water on the beach to the restaurant and have a beautiful meal. Afterwards we head to see our first lady boy show. Was very funny. I couldn’t believe what they were doing. After the show I got my picture took with one of them, though you did have to tip them 100bhat. We didn’t do much tonight as we were very hung over still, so we just went shopping then headed back to the resort. A good night sleep then it’s off to Koh Tao in the morning, also known as Turtle Island...very excited to see another new place.
