Hello everyone!!
So i now find myself after a horrible 13Hour train journey in Chiang Mai!! I love the place already, the air is alot more cleaner than Bangkok! We head to our hotel which turns out to be very very nice! so after getting freshened up we get some breakfast and then decide hmmmm what the hell are we gona do the rest of the day haha!! After going through some of the options we all decided to go up into the jungle to do the flight of the gibbon, doon doon doon, lol its basically aload of zip lines over the jungle that we zip line down! I dont think anyone who has any sense would actually do this to themselves but what the heck!! So we get on our bus which takes around 1hour up into the jungle and the higher and higher we got, excuse my langauge but i nearly pissed my pants! The height was unreal!! We get geared up and whack on the insect repellant, some more than others cough cough, Richard, then head up to the 1st zip line! By this point i am beyond about to pee myself, i have already pee'ed myself haha! The guys who worked there could smell my fear so as you can imagine i got picked on the whole time, on the count of 3, 1....GO, AAAAHHHHHHH!!! Haha, amazing! Had a ball at that! Would do it all over again. When i get back to the hotel i decided that i would treat myself to a Thai massage after all that drama, works out 6 pound sterling, not bad for 60min oil massage with some Thai stretching and bizzare slapping haha!!
Later that night we head out for dinner, and guess where we end up, in an Irish bar, not very Irish at all! After dinner we head to the night markets, they are pretty cool! They line the streets and sell everything! We also go to collect some items for our 3 day trek.
So we are now on day 4 and its an early start, breakfast and trekking rucksack packed, and we set off on these little trucks where everyone hops in the back, like a pick up truck! takes around 3 hours + to get to the jungle, but on the way we stop at Mork-fa waterfall, i think thats right! Well jeez, i cant even describe how cool this was, it is soooooo pretty, and we all get to swim underneath it, that near ended in disaster when i got pushed under by the force haha, and my top was hmmmm yea near off me :S!
So upwards and onwards into the jungle where the experiences really begin!! We start walking and i thought, hmmm not too bad!! 10minutes later, the hills came, now i was told that we were climbling hills....it was fecking mountain climbling...you will see by the pictures the highest point we climbed, was pretty tough going but worth it!! There r some weird and wonderful creatures, butterflies are about the size of my hand, also seen a snake who wasnt very pleasant, horrible b*****! We visit the hill tribe villages and stay in a bamboo hut, with squat toilets =( i have now experienced it all haha!! I tell ya aswell, the feeling that you get, sitting in a bamboo hut, in the middle of the jungle, looking out onto rice fields with the sound of the stream flowing in front, its unreal, words cannot describe it, sitting around a fire at night with guitar and singing songs, drinking some of the local sambuca haha, its fantastic!! And also, nothing can beat a squat toilet with ants all over the bowl, and washing from a basin with a plastic scoop of freezing dirty water with a leech init hahaha, you def appreciate the simple things you have after that experience! On the trek we also get to ride elephants, our elephant was not so nice, he reminds me of myself with extreme PMT, moody oul git haha! He kept rising up when we tried to mount him, which left my new german friend christina back to front on his neck as he started walking off, VERY hilarious!! His name was sunboon, we basically got left on our own because he refused to move, and his owner was hitting him on the bum which im guessing he did not like as he blew his trunk at him and tried to hit him with his trunk aswell, and the owner was only hmmm 13 at the most lol! Once he seen the river though, he then took off which led to me having to pray because i thought we were going to die!! All in all an amazing experience!
On the last day of the trek we done bamboo rafting!! this was very funny, and an unreal experince, floating down the river in the middle of the jungle on a raft made of bamboo, with, oh, elephants grazing at the side....as you do!! The jungle was amazing and i would recommend it to everyone, i learned so many new things, met amazing people, i found the jungle girl inside me, i am Jane looking for her Tarzan haha....and i find it weird how after it, i find Thai men atrractive, though all the girls are the same so glad im not the only one, watch out mum and dad, im bringing a jungle boy home haha!! jungle monkey!
One person who really made this trek, has to be Sang, our jungle guide. My god, this guy is amazing, the funniest person i have ever met! My brain is inscripted with the phrases, OH MY BUDDHA, NO MONEY NO HONEY, LOOKY LOOKY NO TOUCHY!! hahaha, and if only you could hear this guys laugh, iv heard nothing like it before, listening to it just sets everyone off!! He taught us how to cook some food, at dinner the food is all freshly made, from the trees outside to the fish in the river! and might i add it has to be the best food i have ever tasted! He had long chats with us at night around the fire and told some really interesting things, he also taught us the elephant song, jeez, chang chang chang!! hilarious!! We played the hand slap game around the table and whoever got it wrong we had to mark eachother with ash from the bottom of the teapot, Sang ended up in the end just drawing a beard and lots more on his face!! Did you know that in thailand if you are over the age of 35 and u have a tattoo, its either because you were in prison or you practise voodoo?? theres one for ya!! Was very sad having to say goodbye to Sang, great guy!
After arriving back from the trek, we got a well deserved shower and change, man how good it is to feel hot water, and then head out for a last dinner and piss up!! And yes that was another interesting and evetfull night....way too much booze, and getting back at about 6am, boke!! Im currently sitting in bangkok now after getting off a 13hour train journey, those things are terrible! We change over groups today and unfortunatly have to say goodbye to few people.....dont like goodbyes :( but looking forward to the next part of my adventure....southern Thailand =) bring on the beeches!!
Sooooo to sum up days 3-6 in Chiang Mai, great time, and my highlight has to be the 3 day jungle trek....anyone who does not experience this is stupid, get yourselves out there and do it, i promise you would not regret it....words and pictures are just not enough to describe the whole experience, best time of my life!
P.S Caroline how jealous are you...i walked through real life rice fields, shove your farmtown up your **** hahaha!!!! hope your still watering those crops!!
Hope all is well back home,
love neady xxxxxxx
