It is exactly 1 month 'til our plane lands in Europe and we start 3 weeks of non-stop 'Tripping'.
I wanted to talk a little bit about the second leg of our Tour: Vienna-Munich - Berlin. Starting with Vienna...
After 4 days in Paris, we will board an intra-Europe plane for Vienna to begin our next 3 city Tour.
I have a feeling that this plane ride will be the source of many "stories" for years to come. The plane ticket was uber cheap. Like ridiculously cheap. Even in the conversion from Euros to Dollars it was alarmingly cheap. I intend to buy shoes that are more expensive than that ticket. I envision sitting shoulder to shoulder with no more than 50 people, on a quickie flight, with my carry-on bag on my lap. No frills. But it's a short flight, and it beats taking an overnight train - we need to maximize every hour of time abroad!
We'll actually arrve in the afternoon (around 2:30) the day before the Tour officially starts. This will give us a little bit of 'recovery' time from a busy 4 days in Paris, and a chance to find our legs after a potentially "memorable" flight.
Our hotel is perfectly situated a few blocks away from the city-centre, and landmarks such as The Vienna Operahouse. Our 3 days in Vienna are lightly planned - we want to do some palace-gawking, museum-wandering and take in some live music (musik!) If you're going to enjoy live classical music, how about Mozart, Strauss or Schubert... in Vienna?
We are looking forward to walking the historic cobblestone streets of one of the world's most beautiful cultural centres, nestled in the Alps. We may also decide to take a day trip to Salzburg, made famous in The Sound of Music. We definitely won't struggle to find a place to re-enact the opening scene... "The hills are alive...!" (and I'm sure we won't be the first people to do that either...)
4 days in Vienna, then on to a new city in our 4th new country... Munich, Germany.
