Yesturday was a pleasant day spent mooching around London's Westfield shopping centre and then a stroll in the sunshine to Kensington Palace. It was well worth the 'longer than anticipated walk' and sore feet. We enjoyed an extravagant and truely authentic English afternoon tea at the Orangery. This consisted of a glass of champagne each, a tiered cake tray displaying cute finger sandwiches, a scone and some tarts/cakes, and a pot of tea each. We soaked in the quaintness of it all and felt like ladies of leisure.
The evening was also quite a dining adventure...we meet up with Jade and Emma in London, enjoyed some cocktails and then headed to Brick Lane where we met Yo and Chris for some curry. What an experience! As soon as we hit Brick Lane, the restaurant workers were on us. Throwing deals at us, trying to entice us into their restaurant and following us down the road. I left the bartering/negotiation to the boys and stood back in bewilderment. We managed to score a full meal including starters, two bottles of wine and a couple of pints of beer all for just ten pound each! Bargain! It was a delicious experience and fantastic catching up with everyone. Brick Lane...a must do if ever in London!
Tomorrow Lil and I tackle the public transport with our packs and head to our next location...Welwyn Garden city. I start work on tuesday and Lil starts the following week. Time to wind down after our week of London adventures!
Hope all are well.
