So here I am...back in London. It was a sad farewell to all my friends in Birmingham, but, the adventures continue. I ended the Birminghan lifestyle with a farewell dinner at Jimmy's Spices (a fantastic multi-cultural buffet restaurant) and a bbq the following night with new house mate, Claire. This involved a disposable/portable bbq and sitting outside in the first of the summer rays. Truely a memorable goodbye. I'll be back!
I arrived in London on the sunday. Sunshine, heat...summer is here! (But for how long?) Emma and Jade were enjoying their cute flat garden and we later ventured out for a late lunch accompanied by Mojitos.
Monday I ventured on the tubes to Heathrow airport, where Lil was due to fly in. It was another hot summers day. Her flight arrived pretty much on time...just fifteen minutes late. A bad first experience on the tubes for Lil...we hit peak work bustle, heat, problematic signals and she had her pack to top it all off. However, it was worth the hard work and we arrived back at Emma and Jade's to a bbq in the back garden. Feet up and relaxation.
The remainder of this week has consisted of sightseeing. The first day we hit the hop on, hop off bus and saw the cliche tourist sights such as Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, London Tower bridge, London Eye etc. Lots of snaps were taken and the sun was shining.
The following day consisted of further exploration of London including Buckingham Palace and a ride on the London Eye. Fantastic views all around!
Yesturday was a little more relaxed. We spent the afternoon strolling through Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. We had a rather suprising 'Squirrel' encounter. At one stage about four squirrels were gathered around us. I happened to have banana chips in my bag which enticed them further. Some actually came close enough to touch. An exciting encounter for us, but, we did receive some strange looks from the locals.
A bit of shopping at Westfield today and a proper afternoon tea at Kensington Palace. I'll be back later to inform you all of my further activities.
xoxo
