Well, Lil and I made it safe and sound. A walk, overground, another walk, a train and a taxi later we were standing in the carpark of Attimore Veterinary Group.
There is a full house in the locum accomodation, so, Lil and I are sharing a bunk room...a little different to the whole house I had to myself in Weoley Castle, but, an experience all the same. One of the housemates, Claire, has gone away on holiday, so, for the time being I am using her room. Poor Lil...I was waking her at all hours, when rising for my early morning runs.
The pace here and routine is a lot different to that which I got used to in Birmingham...not so much in the way surgeries, emergencies or wildlife. It's nice to come back into a private practice and experience a whole different way of doing things, but, I do miss RSPCA and the people I met. The people here, however, seem lovely. I have been made to feel right at home. We are right next door to a cute pub and just around the corner from a supermarket. Handy! I also stumbled across some beautiful countryside while running...I actually got a little lost! Hehe. My urban surrounds transformed into countryside trails alongside fields, over streams and through woods. It is full of life...rabbits, squirrels, birds, horses and I even saw a wild deer...very peaceful! Lil and I have been for a few walks out there and I often run there.
It's Lil's first day today and my first night shift. I'm hoping there wont be too many calls or inpatients. I had a week of day shifts last week to get me into the swing of things. It should be fine. The plan at present is to work here until the end of August and then travel to Spain. After that..where ever we are led. My friend Dean and I are in the midst of finalising plans for a trip to Israel...exciting times ahead.
Please stay in touch, I love hearing from you all back home.
Much love.
