Hi all,
Wow, it's been a long long time since I wrote on here! You can definately notice the difference of my entries from when I first arrived to now. There's a lot more happening, a lot busier and I have Lil here...not so much spare time and yearning for home!
Welwyn Garden itself has been fairly uneventful. It's a cute little place with lots of country walks but not a lot in the way of anything else. It's a quiet and modest place. Work is going well...hard adjusting to all the different shifts (including nights) and it can be one extreme or the other (really quiet or quite hectic). The people, however, are fantastic and it's great having Lillian here. There have been several social occasions, but, not as many as we would have liked. The pub next door is often a great place for a wind down, drink and catch up and Lee recently had a birthday at the Greyhound races...that was a fantastic night out and great opportunity to get to know work collegues in a different light.
We have explored a little, but not nearly as much as we should have! We've explored the walks around here, been to Hatfield House (great gardens and an incredible palace), visited the cute shopping area of St Albans and made several trips into London...once to see the show 'Chicago' and to enjoy a fantastic Italian meal and another time to visit Camden markets with Shanaka. That was quite an experience! We had a -pedicure/massage done by putting our feet in a pool of water and letting tiny fish nibble them. So bizaare! The stalls were ok...a lot of variation and a huge expanse of them. Bustling and full of activity. Our favourites were the food stalls...of course! Always thinking of our tummys! Hehe. They had a great donut stall...you've never seen such a huge variety of flavours. How to pick?
Lil and I are very much looking forward to our 14 day trip around Europe. It's through 'Topdeck' and we are hoping to do a bit of all sorts, including paragliding. Some of the countries we will be visiting include France, Italy, Vatican City, Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands. We are waiting in anticipation for the next two weeks to pass by so we can bask in holiday mode!
Post-holiday, Lillian leaves me for Scotland and the great opportunity to work in a referral clinic. I will stay put in Welwyn Garden City and probably remain until my return home in December. I will miss Lily Bean, but, it's a great excuse for me to visit Scotland before I travel home.
As you have all heard...Jared and I are getting married. I have missed him intensely since being here and the prospect of a marriage next April only intensifies this. I look forward to returning home to celebrate and spend some much owed time with my future husband. Exciting and eventful times ahead! In the meantime, I intend to make the most of my time spent here and enjoy the cultural experiences.
My next blog should be full of news and photos of our Europe trip. Yay!
Love you all lots and miss you loads.
xoxo
