Hey guys
Well since arriving in Sydney my visa card has taken a battering!! My two lovely room mates, Amy & Danielle 19, from London are shopaholics and we all know I'm partial to a bargain or two!And seeing as the weather has been rubbish (seriously 1.5 days of sun since I got here on Wednesday) there hasn't been much else to do!
When the sun did eventually come out on Friday, I hit Bondi Beach with Alan (one of Dan's & Amy's crew!) I had a cracking day. We got a box of goon (cheap wine that backpackers live on over here, 4 litres for a fiver!) and a few of us spent the afternoon playing drinking games and soaking up the sunshine! We left the beach about 8 and Alan cooked us chicken fajitas for dinner! Yummy!
Thursday night me and the girls went out to a couple of local bars in white themed outfits & santa hats!We had a really good night, I was doing the spice girl routine to 'stop' apparently! How embarrassing! Got back to the hostel about midnight!! To be fair we did commence the drinking early!
Last night , we went to the Botanic Gardens for a Salvation Army Christmas Carol sing-along.We were expecting a few people to be there but it was absolutely packed, hundreds of thousands of people there & it was on Australian TV. It's an annual event and very popular. We paid $5 for a salvation army bag containing candles to light for the concert, only to discover it jam packed with other cool stuff, such as magazines, hats, facewipes, tandorri curry packs, biscuits, all sorts. I decided to keep my bag's contents a surprise until Christmas Morning so it kind of feel s like I have some presents to open!! It's hard to believe it's actually Christmas in a couple of daystime. The forecast here is rain, I'm absolutely gutted but determined to spend Xmas day on the beach come rain or shine!
Christmas Eve should be good. Us girls, Alexis (another of Dan's & Amy's mates) & Nat ( my Aussie friend from the first tour) are going on a booze cruise downSydney harbour. All inclusive drinks, food & entry to a club when the cruise comes to an end. I think I'm going to need to invest in some high heels tomorrow!! Flip flops just won't cut it!!
Today we have been to the blue mountains which was pretty spectacular. We also went on the Katoomba railway, the world's steepest incline & the cable car.Funny story - We had lunch in a pizzeria & Dan didn't finish all of her food so I said to her 'aren'tyou going to take it with you, doggy style!' Of course I meant in a doggie bag! We laughed so much!! Maybe you had to be there but I thought I'd include it on the off chance you didn't! ;-)
The weather looks set to pick up from Boxing day onwards so hopefully I can work on the tan and have a day at Manly which is supposed to be beautiful.
This will be my last blog entry for 2007 so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year.I hope you've enjoyed the blogs so far, you'll be hearing from me in 2008, until then take care of yourself & each other! xXx
