Last night Neil put on a recorded report on the the earthquake, to see the damage then watch footage of when it happened and being in the erea of which it happened was so very real I could almost feel what frightering time they went through.
When we got up this morning Neil and Naun asked us if we felt the 3 sml rumbles we had last night as Neil said he came into our bedrooms to see if we ok and not frightened, we both thought we did wake at some time and my hard drive I brought yesterday was on the table beside my bed was now on the floor, was just like a heavy Lory going past a very sml rumble.
Today we went to Christchurch's top attraction THE GONDOLA and we totally understand why. The 945 metre gondola gently took us to the top of the port hills almost 1500 ft above sea level. A stunning spectacular 360 degree view across the cityscape of Christchurch, over the Canterbury plains to the high peaks of the southern Alps. To the south and east are the dramatic views of Banks peninsula, lake Lyttelton harbour which was formed in a sudden volcanic crater. Looking north are the beaches of Pegasus Bay and the Pacific Ocean unfold distant kailoura peninsula.
Betty me and Finn went in the gonola together and road up the hills to the top, playing sweet and sour with Finn on the way up, this is you wave to the ones passing coming down if they wave back there sweet if they don't they are sour, Finn and me waved like mad while queen Betty did the Royal wave lol. When we got to the top the view all around us was spectacular, it took your breath away I sure not to forget this in a long time looking down and across just seem to look like a post card, not real, but it was totally amazing, cannot put into words but hope my photos will show the stunning views.
Up on the top there is also the time tunnel you sit in a slow moving cart and journey back 12 million years through the smouldering depths of the volcano, a forest, short voyage onboard a ship and through the early settlements of Christchurch, it was very interesting and amazing to know this all was formed by a volcano.
Another fun packed day. Xxxxx
