Well sad to say only one more day left in Sydney how time goes so quickly.
Went of exploring on our own today, walked down to the Wollstonecraft train station took the city train to wynyard and navigated our way the the Sydney tower. The tower opened in 1981 and took six years to build it's stabilised by 56 cables which when put in a straight line would reach from Sydney to New Zealand. Looks out over Sydney all the way to the blue mountains. Boy oh boy what a view although it was very overcast today it still was an impressive sight to see, needless to say the camara clicked away must have the Sydney bridge from all directions it just draws the camara.
We then took a taxi to Darlin harbour and went to the Sydney wildlife centre which is unusual for a zoo or wild life park in that public areas are almost entirely enclosed and air conditioned. The A$52 million developement features a 0.62ml walkway which snakes through 75,000 sq ft of enclosure. We had our close encounter with the koalas, eye to eye with these remarkable animals, bets face was a picture on its own we sure have falling in love with them, yes not sure how many photos I have taken will it be the bridge or the koalas the most ???..
Next was a small boat ride around the harbour to circular quay where we had a McDonald's for lunch, took a slow walk along the harbour to the Sydney Opera House, one of the 20 th century's most distinctive buildings. Start of build was on 1st March 1959 and completed in 1973 then opened on 20 th October 1973, cost A$102 million, 213ft high, 600ft long and 394ft wide, covering 4.4 acres, the structural system is concrete frame + precast concrete ribbed roofs total seating 5,738 in multiple venues. Sure was another wonderful sight to see. I took a walk up the steps there were one or two of them but it had to be done. What a remarkable place this is will be sad to leave still so much to see we will have to return some day.
Tomorrow the sight seeing bus tour to finish with.
